March 2024
Greetings Madison Families! April is almost here and the tulips are up several inches already! Here are several things to be aware of…
ISASP
3rd graders are doing ISASP testing Tuesday through Thursday this week. They will begin their day with a quick breakfast of fruit and granola bars or mini muffins provided by Hy-Vee and Fareway. Students test in the morning each day. We do an all school cheer for them as they come down to the cafeteria for breakfast on Tuesday.
Good Friday - No School on Friday due to our Easter weekend.
Tulip Time
Our annual Tulip Time festival is May 2-4 this year. Madison students march on Friday and Saturday this year. This rotates each year between Madison, Lincoln and Jefferson students. We need students to be in costume to walk in the parade. More info on marching details to follow. School lets out at 11:15am on Thursday and Friday so students are ready to march at 2:30pm.
Dutch Costume Exchange
You can purchase used costumes at the exchange on these dates:
Thursday, April 4 - 11:00am - 5:30pm
Friday, April 5 - 1:00 - 5:30pm
Saturday, April 6 - 9:00 - 11:30am
The costume exchange is located at Scholte Church which is in the Historical Village on Franklin Street.
Track and Field Day
Our normal plans for track and field day need to change this year due to the stadium bleachers being replaced. We will do track and field day at Madison this year on May 24th. More info to follow.
Bus routes
Be sure and do a transportation change if more than one student is coming home with your child on the bus. Many of our bus routes are full. When students invite friends home with them it adds to the crowd. Harlan, our transportation director can only allow one extra student home on the bus with your child.
Crosswalk
I have been really pleased with our new parking lot arrangement. It solved several issues from last year. I want to encourage folks to use the crosswalk. I know when you park and walk over to greet your child, the temptation is to cut through the cars on the curb. We can only guarantee your safety when you use the crosswalk.
Thanks for sharing your kiddos with us! We love having them!
