School Update
Dear Families,
As we head into next week we know that families and staff have a wide range of emotions as we return to in-person learning. We acknowledge and appreciate that families will be making decisions based on many factors and continue to support you in those decisions. As a school community we do our best with ongoing communication, mutual respect and understanding. We are grateful for the opportunity to see student faces in the building again and enjoying the daily interactions that provide a different kind of connection and some truly bright moments in our day. We also take the safety of the people in the building, students and staff, as our utmost priority. We will continue to adhere to public health guidelines and board protocol to ensure we can provide a learning and growing environment that is as safe as possible.
As indicated in the Director Burra's update, Lancaster has received N95 masks for staff and will have three-ply masks available for students. As communicated earlier in the year, every school in Limestone was audited for air quality and ventilation. As a relatively newer build within our board, Lancaster met all requirements. However, we did receive and have had in place HEPA filters in our Kindergarten rooms, portables and daycare spaces.
Students will continue to wear masks both inside and during outside breaks, and wash and sanitize hands throughout the day. During nutrition breaks, students do remove their masks to eat. If your family has determined that they would like to have your child go home for lunch they may sign out, or be signed out, during nutritional breaks and return to school when classes resume. The understanding is that students are going directly home and not to other students' houses or to local eating establishments. Students should not return to join their class on the schoolyard. It is very important that students sign back in when they return so that we know that they have returned safely to school. They do not need to come to the office for a late slip but should go directly to class. We have two breaks in the day where this could occur 10:30-11:10 and 12:50-1:40.
See Director Burra's update for further information on options around continued virtual learning options.

Short-Term Virtual Learning Options
We are aware that there are some families who would like to continue learning virtually for the time being. If this is the case for your child, please let the teachers know, and use the "Short-term Virtual" option when completing the advance absence notification. Teachers will be providing students with short-term asynchronous learning, and there will be a survey sent out by the board next week for families who would like to continue remote learning for a longer period of time. If you plan to send your children back to school, you do not need to complete this survey.

Returning Borrowed Technology
A reminder that students who borrowed technology for virtual learning should bring devices and cords back to school when they return to school or they can be dropped off at the main office from 8:30 -4:00 pm. If your child is not able to safely transport it. We will sanitize all devices prior to re-allocating them for classroom use.
