What is Composting Awareness Day?
Composting Awareness Day
Did you know that your family to help keep away thousands of pounds of trash every year from ending up in landfills? Our team of 7 children will be presenting facts about composting and how it benefits our earth. We will demonstrate the process with an inexpensive but effective compost bin that the team has come up with. The pre-made bins will also be available for sale at a discounted ($12.00), non-profit cost, which is 1/10th of the price of composting bins available in stores.
We are very honored to invite a Cat Hollow resident and parent, Nikki Gonzales as our chief guest to this event. A former chief of staff at the Capitol and current director of external relations for Texas State Technical College, Nikki is also an RRISD Trustee, Place 1. She recognizes that the school district’s incredible growth needs to be managed to make sure those opportunities continue to improve our children’s education. Her highest priority is to make sure that all RRISD students have the opportunity to prepare for college or the workforce. She is always enthusiastic in encouraging children and extending support to improve our community.
Mrs.Gonzales received her degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest Texas State, before working at the Texas Capitol for over a decade. She plays a vital role in our community as a Victim’s Assistant Volunteer for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. She and her family are active members of St. Williams Catholic Church in Round Rock. Currently, she works at Texas State Technical College as the Director of Operations for External Relations.
Please come and support the earth-friendly effort we are trying to promote in our community to make it more healthy! See you all at Cat Hollow Park at 3:30 pm on Sunday, Jan 17th.
