ASSESSMENT AND GOAL WRITING FOR STUDENTS WHO STUTTER
March 30, April 6 and 13
Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Assessment and planning in school-age stuttering therapy can feel daunting for many speech-language pathologists (SLPs). In this three-part, lunch-and-learn series, Nina Reeves, M.S., CCC-SLP, BCS-F, will provide clinicians with a framework for assessment and goal choice to provide effective intervention for students who stutter. After attending the series, participants will be able to:
- List four aspects of a comprehensive assessment for stuttering
- Write at least three goals based on the ICF framework
0.3 or 3 hours of ASHA CEUs will be provided.

SMoRRES- DISTRICT WIDE AAC MODELING
Day 1: April 27, 2023
Day 2: April 28, 2023
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. via ZOOM
Jumpstart AAC implementation in your district and build capacity with the SMoRRES program, an effective method for teaching classroom staff to provide partner-augmented input (PAI) throughout the school day!
Day 1 is an introductory SMoRRES level 1 session appropriate for all school staff, including administrators, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, teachers, instructional assistants, and other professionals who work with children using AAC. Participants will set goals for the training, learn why PAI is so important, verbally rehearse the steps to successful modeling, see videos of modeling in the classroom, and practice modeling. A communication device, app, emulation software, book, or board is required to participate in a variety of interactive, hands-on training activities designed for learning or improving modeling skills.
Day 2 of the series is an intermediate, SMoRRES level 2 session appropriate for assistive technology specialists, speech-language pathologists, and team leaders. Day 2 is organized to teach participants the 8-step, evidence-based instructional program used to introduce participants to PAI on Day 1. This instructional program can be used to teach adult communication partners, such as parents and educators, to model on their students' devices across classes and school environments. Participants will learn the steps involved in implementing the communication partner training program, and they will be provided with a DVD, PowerPoint presentation, and a printed manual to enable them to employ the program in their own schools.
Day 1 is a prerequisite to Day 2. Please email Katie Adams at kadams@esc11.net for the password to register for the Day 2 training. ASHA CEUs will be provided.

TX PREK GUIDELINES UPDATED
TEA collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to revise and update the 2015 Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines. The Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines were revised to align with the Kindergarten Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), condense content, include inclusive language of multi-lingual learners and special populations, eliminate errors and ambiguity, and meet section 508 accessibility compliance. The new guidelines offer educators the information and support to prepare all children for success in kindergarten. Implementation of the 2022 Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines will begin in the 2023-2024 school year.
