Summer Snapshot
July 2019
IMPORTANT: Transportation 2019/2020
A huge thank you to those families who have already completed the data collection tool regarding the creation of 2019-20 bus routes. If you have already completed the survey, you can ignore the rest of this message and return to your regularly scheduled summer plans!
**IMPORTANT REMINDER**
Chesterfield County Public Schools’ transportation team is creating next year’s bus routes through an automated routing system that designs bus runs and identifies bus stops. In doing so, we’ve used the information previously provided to us by you.
Understanding that circumstances (such as living arrangements or daycare) change throughout the year, we’re respectfully requesting that you complete the following survey to help us create an updated daily transportation planner.
Please submit this information even if information has not changed so that we can verify that the information we have in our student information system is accurate.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8XPDSPD Information provided will help us identify how your child will get to school, where they will need to be picked up in the morning and where they will need to be dropped off in the afternoon. Please take time to complete this short survey so that we can be equipped to serve you on the first day of school in September. Completion of the survey by June 28 will help us create more efficient bus routes next year.
**PRIVACY INFORMATION**
After the first request last week, the school division heard concerns about the reliability of the Survey Monkey tool. The survey is housed on a secure site with information being encrypted and stored at a SOC 2-accredited data center. This type of security is utilized by many financial transaction sites. In the case of this data collection effort, the student’s name, student ID and birth date are our three points of identity verification. It’s necessary to have at least two points verified to ensure that the information is applied to the proper student. Obviously, with 61,000 students there are numerous students with the same name. We also know that many parents may not readily know their student’s ID number or they may superimpose digits when they enter it on a form. Having three points of verification allows us to match data with a student without incorrectly identifying the wrong student and impacting a different child and their family.
Once the data is collected through the survey, the transportation information will be uploaded into our student information system by CCPS analysts. It is not used for any other purpose. In turn, the student ID number is unique to Chesterfield school system applications.
