No Charging Policy/Summer School
No charging will be allowed starting May 9th. Students must have a positive balance in order to purchase items in the school cafeteria. Any student without a positive balance will receive an alternative meal at lunch. Please visit myschoolbucks.com to monitor account balances and set up low-balance email alerts. We appreciate your prompt attention in maintaining a positive meal balance.

Important outreach materials regarding the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) summer nutrition programs will be expected to arrive at the schools in early May.
Each package will contain the following summer outreach materials:
• Posters to display throughout their school in the month leading up to the summer break
• Postcards to pass out to every student enrolled (please send out at least two weeks before summer break)
For your reference, here are the locations of summer sites and the times they will be serving meals:
• Cross Timbers Middle School- Enrichment & KidzU:
Lunch: 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
• Timberline Elementary- Bilingual/ESL:
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

8th Grade Field Trip to Main Event
It is nearing the end of our 8th grade year and we are preparing for our annual 8th grade field trip to Main Event in Grapevine. The field trip will be Friday, May 20, 2016 following our awards ceremony. This is not to be confused with the 8th Grade Celebration the PTA sponsors.

Counseling Update May 16 - May 20 2016
SUMMER SCHOOL COURSES
Before a student can register for summer school, the student must meet with a counselor. There is a form that the student will need to turn into the counseling office. All forms are due by Thursday, May 26th. Students will then be able to register online the next day.
High School Credits that Middle School Students Can Take in Summer School - The only course offered in summer school for students going 6th to 7th and 7th to 8th is Touch Systems Data Entry. There is a fee to take a summer school course. Please keep in mind that summer school has a money commitment and a time commitment. You must make plans to attend class everyday. Students going from 8th to 9th have more summer school courses available.

EIGHTH GRADE

NEXT SCHOOL YEAR
If your student will not be attending CMS or going on to attend their designated high school for the 2016-2017 school year, please contact the counseling office. An e-mail may be sent to CMS Registrar Shari Vanderwork at shari.vanderwork@gcisd.net providing her with the name of the school your student will attend for the 2016-2017 school year.
MIX IT UP LUNCH
The CMS Friends of Rachel Club will host the last Mix it Up Lunch of the year on Wednesday, May 18th. This is a time for students to enjoy being outdoors and they will also have the ability to sit with different student groups. Students will eat outside in the field by the North gym. Students may bring a lunch or go through the lunch line and then take it outside. Students will be allowed to bring a blanket or a towel to sit on. However, the blanket or towel must be stored in their locker at all times, except for lunch. Please let us know if you have questions.

August 3 (Wednesday) Only New CMS Student Registrations by appointment only with Counseling Dept. See CMS website under Departments, Counseling for details
August 19 (Friday) Colt Camp for 6th grade 3-5 pm, 5-6 pm for buying PTA school supplies, etc. 6th grade schedules handed out at 2:30 pm
August 18 (Thursday) 7th grade 3-5 pm to purchase school supplies, pick up schedules,etc.
August 18 (Thursday) 8th grade 5-7 pm to purchase school supplies, pick up schedules,etc.
***PARENT REMINDER***
All updated immunization records for returning 2016-17 - 7th graders should be uploaded in their Skyward registration (done online in July) or sent to CMS Nurse Sophia Martin before August 18th

For the 2016-2017 School Year GCISD will not be conducting Residency Verifications,
except for students new to GCISD.
