What is guided reading?
Guided reading is an instructional connection in which the teacher brings children and literature together. It is one of the most widely-used strategies for developing effective reading instruction for teaching comprehension and fluency. Guided reading is the heart of a balanced literacy program. "The ultimate goal in guided reading is to help children learn how to use independent reading strategies successfully." ~Fountas & Pinnell
