I Love U Guys
Our school has adopted The “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Students and staff will be training, practicing, and drilling the protocol. The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on an all hazards approach as opposed to individual scenarios. Please take a few minutes to review the Standard Response Protocols (click link below) and our Standard Reunification Method (click link below).

Counselor's Corner
STEM Family,
The 2020 year has brought upon us many challenges as not only a nation but as a STEM community. During this time, I am thankful to be part of such a strong STEM family. Many of our students need basic necessities such as shoes, socks, underwear, food, glasses, school supplies, hygiene materials, etc. Many people do not realize that we as a school provide families in need with these supports with no additional funding. This is why we need your help. Please donate to the UTPB STEM Academy counseling fund, your money will supply students with these basic needs. Also, know that your money will go to families who have come across hard times with Thanksgiving turkeys, Christmas presents, and coats for the winter season. I appreciate all your generosity. Please reach out to our PTO at stem.academy.pto79762@gmail.com and let them know you would like to donate to the Counseling Fund.
Thank you,
Jaimie Miller, M.Ed

Secondary Updates
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This month we have numerous activities planned for our High School students that I would like to highlight.
Our first big event this month is a night like no other. Our first graduating class will be having Senior Signing night at the UTPB Gym @6pm. Our students are committing to their post-secondary plans and we are so excited to see the culmination of their high school work come in to being. In addition to our seniors that night we will have a first for our Juniors as well. Our juniors will be our cheering section. We want all our 11th grade students there cheering their peers on to success and setting a precedent of support for the graduates.
Our next two items run in tandem with each other. The first item is our first Junior/Senior Prom formal on April 23. We are excited to announce our ability to engage in this wonderful rite of passage for high school students. “An Evening in Paris” will be held at the MCM Elegante and provides coronation activities, dinner, and dancing to our participants. We know our young adults are excited and so are we. The week after on April 30 we will have our Senior Awards Banquet. Information on ticket purchases have been emailed out and can be found in the newsletter. The Senior Awards Banquet gives our community an opportunity to lavish our appreciation on our students. In turn the students will get to name special “Honorees” that have helped them be successful the last 12 years.
Finally be watching your emails this month for communication about your student applying for both National Junior Honor Society (grades 6-9), and National Honor Society (grades 10-12). We will be holding induction ceremonies for both groups in May and are very eager.
Please let the school know if there are any issues related to cost of participating in our Senior Activities, or Junior/Senior Prom. The costs are unavoidable but should not serve as a deterrent to participation. As always we are here to help. Let me, or our staff, know if we can be of assistance.
In Service to others,
Mr. Cody Griffin
