COMPLIANCE CORNER
Thank you all for working so hard to remain compliant and meet the deadlines. Below are the items for you to work on.
Continue to work on getting signatures from parents to finalized and bring the IEPs process compliant in VA IEP. Here are ways other schools have gotten parent signatures:
1. Use Parent Portal to obtain signatures.
2. Schedule a time for parents to come to the school to sign.
3. The Office of Engagement can be a resource.
All Virtual Amendment meetings were due on October 15th.
October Updates: October updates to the December 1 Child Count, Indicators 9, 10, 11, and the Out of Compliance Spreadsheet are due on October 29, 2021. Instructional and Compliance Coordinators (ICC's) should indicate "none" followed by the month of submission when there is no new information to report. Revisions to the Out of Compliance Report should be captured each month under the ICC Comments As schools hold IEP meetings for English Learners, Language Instruction Educational Program (LIEP), teachers should be invited to participate as team members
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY TIP OF THE MONTH
Assistive Technology for Environmental Control
Did you know that students with physical disabilities can access computers, iPads, and electrical appliances using special technology? All it takes is an interface-specific for the device and a capability switch. This technology allows students with limited movement to independently control items in their environment and actively participate in learning activities. Consult with your OT, PT, or Speech therapist for more information about how to adapt devices for switch use. Also, check out these videos of examples of different types of interfaces.
