A Message from the Principal
Dear Woodland Families,
This week we celebrated our bus drivers and our secretaries, Ms. Grace Caton and Mrs. Dawn Montano. Their kindness, helpfulness and hard work are SO appreciated! Beginning on May 6th, we will be celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. We appreciate our teachers and staff all year round, but are excited to shower our staff with love and appreciation next week. We are fortunate to have excellent, caring, and resourceful staff members here at Woodland. If you have a moment, I know that they would love and appreciate any kind message you would like to send them. Our PTO has planned an amazing week for them. Thank you to all of you who have helped support this by sending in items. If you would like to bring in some treats for our staff, please sign up here on the PTO Sign Up Genius. Watch for pictures on the Woodland and the PTO Facebook pages!
I am also looking forward to Mrs. Hockman's and Mrs. McNaughton's music concert on Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30pm and Ms. Casolari's, Mrs. Jalkanen's and Ms. Wheeler's music concert on Wednesday, May 29th at 6pm. Mrs. Petipren has been busy preparing our musicians and I know that the kids are going to put on a great show! Don't forget about our Art Show and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, May 9th from 5-8pm.
Don't forget that we will have no school for students next Friday, May 3rd for teacher professional learning.
Enjoy your weekend,
Mrs. Katalin Rosinski
Principal

Positivity Project
This week, we worked on Purpose as part of our P2 Positivity Project. This means you have beliefs about the meaning of life and your life's purpose. You seek to be part of something greater than yourself.
Purpose gives individuals the sense that they are put on this earth for a reason and that they are somehow connected with humanity or the universe. People who possess a sense of purpose believe that they were put on earth for a reason. That reason can have all kinds of variety. It could be to create a unique invention, to bring joy through art or music, or to raise their children to become good people. These people have a true calling.
Why Does It Matter?
Having a clear sense of purpose in life, and a belief that you're connected to a larger meaning, gives individuals strength. It allows them to persevere and find courage in trying circumstances, or lead with kindness and love even when it's not reciprocated. Those with a sense of purpose have more meaning in their life and are more fulfilled.
To practice and encourage the character strength of integrity with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
Next week, we will focus on Appreciation of Beauty & Excellence as part of our P2 Positivity Project.
Wear Your Gym Shoes
As the weather gets warmer, PE with Mr. Daniels will be heading outdoors to run. Please have your child wear their gym shoes every day (maybe not their new ones, because the ground is still muddy!).
Please Pack an Extra Change of Clothes
