Computer Corner
Friendly Reminder: Mr. Watson has begun to Audit all Student Laptops. Please remember that apps like Discord, Steam, & Minecraft are unauthorized Clark Applications. Mr. Watson will begin issuing verbal warnings to students that violate the AUP that was signed at the start of the school year. Further action can include suspension of your Clark Account and possible loss of your Clark issued laptop. Please get those apps removed ASAP.
From last week: Apple issued critical security updates on August 17 and 18 to address vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to gain complete control over specific Apple devices. This afternoon Mr. Watson has pushed out critical updates to all Clark issued laptops. When you Open up your MAC book, you will see in the upper right hand side of the screen a pop-up that says install updates. Click on the pop up and install the updates. Please take the time this weekend to ensure that your Clark issued laptops are updated.
Need technology help? Mr. Watson's office is upstairs or cwatson1@irsc.edu

Volunteer Opportunities
- Front Desk volunteers needed.
- Martin County Library System ‘Teen Community of Service’ This is a fun and easy way for teens to earn community service hours on your own schedule! This self-paced volunteer program has a monthly theme that teaches important community topics and allows you to create projects that either benefit you and your family, or give back to our community. If you complete everything in the kit, you can earn up to 23 hours per month, but the amount you do is up to you! For more info, contact Teen Specialist, Lacey, at llatour@martin.fl.us.
- Big Brothers/Big Sisters offers two programs for high school students. One is a volunteer position in our School Based mentoring program and the other is a mentee role in our School to Work program. The School Based program is a fun way for volunteers to earn community service hours by helping an elementary student at a local aftercare site. The high school volunteers meet one hour/week at the aftercare site and help the children with academics, building character, and developing a friendship with a positive role model. Our School to Work program provides high school students with a business mentor. It is an “earn while you learn” opportunity, since the mentees are paid a stipend while learning employability skills and college readiness through workshops. I have attached two flyers which share more detailed information about each program.
- FIREFEST 2022 Jonathan Dickinson State Park on October 15, 2022, 1:00pm - 9:00pm. Volunteers are needed for all types of activities at the JDSP 16th Annual FIREFEST in Hobe Sound. Volunteer activities include games, bounce house, pumpkin patch, directional volunteers and much more. This is a terrific event for high school students wanting volunteer hours. Must be 16+ Reply to kstacey@unitedwaymartin.org for additional information and to sign up.
- Hope Center for Autism is looking for Clark students to volunteer in their after school program. Email ljudd@irsc.edu to get the contact info.

Starting next week, each newsletter will have 1 or 2 of the mindsets that are the focus for the week. I will also share here what students in some of our classes are seeing and learning.

Handbook Highlight- Attendance/ Leaving Early for any reason (p. 11)
Early Dismissal from a Scheduled Class
If the student must leave campus before the end of his/her scheduled school day, the following steps must be taken:
1. See Student Services in Room 218.
2. Student Services contacts parent/guardian to obtain permission to leave early. EVEN IF YOU DRIVE!!!!!
3. Upon receiving permission, student and parent must sign out in the log book located at the front desk. Before a student can be released to anyone, authorization must be verified through Student Services.
Students scheduled to be in a class in the Clark building are NEVER to leave the building without the knowledge of a Clark employee.
