Summer School Information
Morning Grovers Registration
Morning Grovers registration will open on April 15th. We cannot accept any requests prior to this date. Right now we are providing 65 seats for families. The hours of operation will be 6:30am-8:40am. The paperwork can be found on the district website or the Northview office, and can be brought to the office starting April 15th.
Counseling Corner
Last month, Northview students learned about Flexible Thinking! Flexible thinking is the ability to think about things in a new or different way. It helps us deal with uncertainty, solve problems, adjust to changes, and incorporate new information into our plans and ideas. Flexible thinking is also a key aspect of self-regulation and handling big emotions. Students learned how to be problem-solvers and not get "stuck" in their thoughts and feelings when things didn't go as planned.
Junior Kindergarten
Kindergarten
The 3rd term is quickly coming to an end! Kindergarten teachers met with several families for parent teacher conferences to share all about the learning and growth that has occurred this school year. They are looking forward to spring break and coming back refreshed for a strong finish to the 2023-2024 school year.
In phonics, kindergarteners began a new unit called Vowel Power. They are learning about the importance of vowels in all words, including short and long vowel sounds to become stronger readers and writers. In readers workshop, kindergarteners celebrated as super readers and activated seven different super powers, or strategies, to become stronger readers. They are working on boosting their reading powers in their upcoming unit. In writers workshop, kindergarteners are working on being storytellers as they write readable true stories about something that happened or something they did. In math, kindergarteners are working on a unit about solving addition and subtraction story problems and equations, comparing numbers, and working with teen numbers.
The kindergarten classes are working hard in music for their upcoming spring concert! Stay tuned for details, including dates and times for grade level performances! Lastly, each kindergarten class had a special visit from Bullard Children’s Dentistry to celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month and learn about taking care of our teeth. Ms. Janis sang songs and taught us about brushing, flossing, dental visits, and other ways to take care of our teeth.
1st Grade
2nd Grade
In Phonics, the 2nd grade students have been offered and accepted "a job" from the BLC (Big, Long, & Complex) Construction and Demolition Company! Our work as their new Vowel Task Force is important and we are creating a manual called The Official BLC Vowel Manual that will contain information about long vowels including basic word-building tips. So far, the BLC Company has been impressed with our attention to detail, knowledge of how words work, and our ability to persevere through big, long, and complex words. We are working hard to get this job done well and without delay!! We’ve got this!!
3rd Grade
The third graders enjoyed themselves on February 29, 2024 at the Dot Dot Dot performance in Manitowoc at the Civic Center. It was an original musical performance based on the books by Peter Reynolds entitled, “The Dot, Ish, and Sky Color. The musical celebrated the power of originality, self expression, and opening our eyes to look beyond the expected. This allowed students to experience a historic venue and an opportunity to watch a live production that can instill a lifelong passion for performance and storytelling. Third graders will be able to take away inspiration for their own creative storytelling in their writing. The theme was about sharing YOU with the WORLD. Students were reminded, “don’t let anyone squish your ISH”.
