This peer-led event represents an opportunity for mid-career or senior colleagues to work together to:
- Reflect on aspects of current practice in gallery and museum education
- Review current research and political agendas
- Consider the positioning of gallery and museum education within the visual arts
- Learn about international contexts for gallery and museum education
- Network with UK and international colleagues
The Summer School programme will focus on the theme of resilience and leadership in gallery and museum education and the visual arts sector. Delegates will lead or participate in peer-led sessions; visit galleries, museums and heritage venues in Padua, meet colleagues and hear about gallery education practice from across Europe, particularly Italy. One day of the four-day Summer School will be spent attending the 55th Venice Biennale.

engage works through its members to promote access to, understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts in the UK and in 20 countries worldwide.
engage members are those who deliver learning programmes in the visual arts, including gallery educators, artists and artist educators, as well as students, teachers, curators, youth and community workers, policymakers and others involved in arts education and the visual arts.
