Happy Birthday Mr. Ambrosino
The City of Chelsea & the Chelsea School Department wished City Manger Tom Ambrosino a very Happy Birthday this week! We are grateful for you and your leadership!
Shout Out!
Big shout-out to Chelsea Community Connections!!! Chelsea Community Connection hosted its 6th Annual Winter Coat Distribution on Saturday, November 5th. This event was a complete success as many of our families received up to 2 coats, gloves, and hats per family. Family Liaisons Delmy Mejia and Yolanda Valles assisted and greeted our families.
Turkey Trot
The running of the Turkey Trot was this past Saturday! The event was an amazing success, and it featured new additions such as a new course, starting location and much more. A special thank you to everyone who ran, participated, and fundraised. It was amazing to see it all come together.

ELC students and families created turkey hideouts for the November Family STEM Challenge.
Mass FoodCorps at the EL
Kindergarten and first grade classes at the ELC during our Garden Days with FoodCorps for the next Superintendent Update. We acted out plant parts together and made a plant part salad. Students got to try pomegranate seeds and learn about other plant parts that we eat.

Students at the ELC celebrated and supported their favorite soccer teams for the 2022 World Cup!
Ice Cold Lemonade!
Kindergartens students learned how to make tasty lemonade and set up a lemonade stand.

Balloon Floats
Mr. McMahon’s class enjoyed working in teams to create “Balloon Floats” as part of the library’s STEM challenge. Thank you to Mrs. Hubert and the library for offering this event to students!
BU Dental Presentation
The BU Dental program visited the Berkowitz School. Students enjoyed the presentation and were given a tooth brush and toothpaste to bring home. Thank you to BU Dental for the collaboration with CPS!
Turkey Trot
Kelly Scholars and Staff ran, walked, and gobbled up the laps at our Turkey Trot on Monday! Some kids competed with themselves and their friends to maximize their laps, while others enjoyed just getting a little exercise and chatting with friends.
Helping the Kelly School Community
Mrs. Drafts and her Kelly School 6th graders performed some community service helping get holiday Covid tests bundled and distributed to every classroom. Thanks for the teamwork!
5th Annual Sokolowski School Turkey Trot
All the students at the Sokolowski School participated in a Turkey Trot Fun Run today! The students ran a total of 2,125 laps which is equal to 425 miles. The week leading up to the run the students demonstrated the Action block of the Pyramid of Success and brought in 367 food items to donate to The Chelsea Revere Family Network! Our Student Council helped run the event. They went into classrooms to explain the event, helped with the 1st Grade run, and sorted and counted cans! This year they also were able to take a walking field trip to help to deliver the items! They were excited to help our school community and the Chelsea community! Happy Thanksgiving from the Sokolowski School!

Afterschool Enrichment Programs
The Browne school after-school enrichment programs are in full effect and currently have over 150 students in 10 clubs. Special shout out to our Outreach worker Mr. Fito for keeping them all running smoothly.
Celebrating the World Cup
All month we will be watching the World Cup at the Williams Complex. The 32 countries in the World Cup have been randomly assigned to a group/room in the school. The group that has the country that wins the World Cup will have a celebration/party.

Student Excellence Awards
We have been recognizing the excellence of our students this week. Today seventh graders had an awards ceremony to celebrate academic and other accomplishments. Hemos estado reconociendo la excelencia de nuestros estudiantes esta semana. Hoy, los estudiantes de séptimo grado tuvieron una ceremonia de entrega de premios para celebrar los logros académicos y de otro tipo.

Mr. LaFontana's class welcomed State Representative Judith Garcia to their Civics class on Tuesday. The students engaged with great conversations with the State Rep.
CHS Drama Club Production
Hello, everyone! The Chelsea High School Drama Club will be presenting their first production of the year, The Play That Goes Wrong, a murder mystery comedy. Our students are extremely excited to be back onstage, sharing their passions and hard work with their teachers, friends, families, and community. The Play That Goes Wrong will go up December 1, 2, 3 in the CHS auditorium at 7pm. Ticket prices are $8, and $5 if purchased in advance. Tickets are now available to purchase, but can also be purchased at the door.
If you have any questions, please contact Chelsea High School's Drama Club advisor and director, Iliana Valentin, and she'll be happy to offer more information.

CAPIC Fuel Assistance will be hosting a live zoom seminar to discuss home heating Fuel Assistance and other energy efficiency services available to income qualified Chelsea residents on November 30, 2022 at 5:30 PM.

College & Career Fair
CVLA 11th and 12th graders participated in the College and Career Fair at Chelsea High School last Friday. The students thoroughly enjoyed the fair, which they said gave them many more ideas of different colleges they could attend. The fair also exposed them to careers that they had not considered. We want to say a big THANK YOU to Ms. Pierre for organizing such an awesome event for CPS students!

CAPIC - Fuel Assistance Program at the Chelsea Senior Center
CAPIC’s Fuel Assistance Program is accepting applications at the Chelsea Senior Center! A bi-lingual CAPIC staff member will be at the Senior Center on a few dates this winter to answer questions, beginning on Friday, December 2.
This program can help both tenants and homeowners pay heating bills from now through April of 2023! See below for more details or call 617-884-6130.

MBTA Youth Passes
GreenRoots is supporting Chelsea youth and young adults by promoting the use of MBTA Youth Passes.
The Youth Pass Program offers reduced fares on the MBTA to eligible young adults. Youth Pass CharlieCards can be loaded with cash value for roughly 50% reduced one-way fares, or $30 monthly LinkPasses for unlimited bus, subway, and Fairmount Line Zone 1A travel. You can also use your card for reduced one-way fares on Commuter Rail and ferry.
In order to be eligible for the Youth Pass, the following criteria need to be met:
· You are a Chelsea resident.
You are between 18 and 25 and are enrolled in a Youth Pass partner program, such as MassHealth, SNAP, Year Up, Roca, public housing, etc.
You are between 12 and 17 and are unable to get a Student CharlieCard through your middle or high school.
Visit the MBTA’s website for the program’s eligibility criteria, and full list of Youth Pass partner programs and accepted documents in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese, or Vietnamese.

Some new youth programs are Snowboarding with the Chill Foundation, MA Sports Leagues, The Home of Bubble Soccer, YMCA of Greater Boston Leaders Club and Y Achievers, and Self-Exploration Through Art.
Registration begins Tuesday, September 13 at 4 pm.
