2019 Blaze Bulletin
Week of April 8th - Edition 57
Dear faculty/staff:
Thank you for assisting and putting up with senior week - you made it! See the pictures below and go ahead and plan to participate in the variety show next year. It really is one of the most fun things we do for our seniors. Shout out to Sienna Holl who is one amazing director/producer/mc! Shout out to Brian Seadorf and Coach McCreery for their help as well!
Now we have testing ahead of us...wow! I encourage every one of you, no matter if you are teaching a tested course or not, to make it a point in the next weeks to be positive with students and each other about this testing. We cannot dwell on what has or hasn't happened in one state or another with Questar. We only know a few things. One way or another, all of us are accountable. And, one way or another, we want our students to take pride in their work and make a concerted effort to do their very best on these tests! You deserve and they deserve the accolades that come to them and to you because they ARE prepared (by all of you) and they DO outperform so many others! So, during testing, Go Blaze!
Enjoy your weekend!

GO BLAZE!
WHO WAS FIRST?
What sport had the first team at Blackman High to make it to a State Tournament (as far as I can tell)? Even to the championship game?
How about Blaze Volleyball in 2003? They had a stellar team from the beginning and had back-to-back appearances at the Murphy Center at the Finals. Attached are 2 articles and a "rally towel" from the first year.

*Please let us know about any seniors you’re concerned about.
*Note from our Graduation Coach, Kim Garrott—Teachers, this is the time of the year where we must have hard conversations about student failing for the year and sometimes seniors possibly not graduating. Just a reminder—the first call home about a student failing your class needs to come from you. During this call, please let them know what they need to make during this last quarter and semester to pass for the year. This is especially important for our seniors! Once you’ve made the call, please let that student’s counselor and me (the Grad Coach) know that you’ve made contact. Thank you for much for what you do and how hard you work!
*We've attached a light-hearted article about how to survive testing season.
We are so thankful to be part of this team! Go Blaze!

SPED TIPS
Students with testing accommodations for SPED & 504 Plan will be testing in room B1. They will NOT follow the regular testing schedule if they have extended time on their IEP/Plan for an EOC test. They will need to eat lunch at different times or might not be in class during nontesting times. Please do not count them absent during testing. They will receive tickets with their testing date and location information for each test.
