South Lebanon Elementary
April 2024 Newsletter
Notes and News from Mr. Brown
It is hard to believe that we are entering the final stretch of the 2023-2024 school year. With only two months until summer vacation, there is lots of work to be done. Our annual PSSA testing will be starting at the end of April. All students in grades 3-5 will be taking the PSSA tests in the subjects of ELA and Math. Our 4th grade students will also be tested in Science.
Spring is a busy time at South Lebanon. Please keep an eye out for upcoming events in our school. Within this newsletter, you will find many of these events listed. If you have any questions, please contact the South Lebanon office. As the weather gets nice outside, I encourage you to spend time with your kids and enjoy the beautiful weather. As always, we appreciate the support that you provide in providing the best education possible for your student(s).
Student Drop Off Information
Please remember that we respectfully ask that you do not enter school grounds for student drop off from Route 897. Our dedicated staff cannot see vehicles entering behind them as they are directing traffic. Also, please be sure to follow the directions of our staff as they direct traffic.. If you are dropping your child off between the hours of 8:50-9:10, please enter our facility off of Endress Road. Your cooperation will help provide a quick and safe drop off for your child.
South Lebanon Elementary Student of the Year
Each year one student is selected from each elementary school for being an exemplary student in both behavior, academics and perseverance. This year, we would like to congratulate Emma Grimes as the 2023-2024 South Lebanon Student of the Year. Emma was honored with this award during the March school board meeting.
District Spelling Bee Champion
Congratulations to Leena Macchione, 5th grader, who won the Cornwall-Lebanon District Spelling Bee on Tuesday, March 19, at Union Canal Elementary School! Leena competed against the top spellers from each of the district’s four elementary schools. Because of her win, Leena has brought back the “traveling trophy” to South Lebanon for the next year. Leena will also have the opportunity to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee in the fall. Way to go, Leena!
Pi Day, 3/14/2024
Tate Speraw, 5th grader, broke a South Lebanon record on March 14, also known as Pi Day. Tate was able to recite 253 digits of pi from memory! WOW! Congratulations Tate!
