Scott 6th Grade Center's Motto- "We Enter to Learn and Leave to Achieve"
What Has Been Happening In Mr. Platt's Classroom?
In Health class thus far, we have focused on interpersonal skills such as decision making, goal setting, problem solving and conflict resolution. These are life skills that everyone could improve and I hope that our students can use these skills to better themselves.
We are also focusing on these skills and other topics such as getting along with others, open mindset, and our emotions during our weekly Positive Action lessons with our amazing representatives from a research-based company called Compass Mark.
Last week, we recently covered heart health and started focusing on nutrition, moving into reading food labels this week!
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to me via email at Platti@casdschools.org.
Thank you so much and Happy Spring!
Drop-off and Pick-Up Reminder
- In the morning, please pull to the curb so students can walk right out onto the sidewalk and not have to worry about crossing in front of busses or cars.
- Please pull as far up as you can without pulling around the vehicle in front of you.
- Please do not pause too long in the lane as there are vehicles behind you waiting to drop off and pull away.
- In the afternoon, our busses pull to the right curb and our pick-up pull to the left curb.
- To ease congestion and allow us to get our first wave busses out quickly and safely, please do not start to arrive for pick-up until 2:10.
- The adult supporting out front (Mrs. Murray, Mr. Platt, or Mrs. Lamothe) will call the pick-up students out after the first wave busses have left. The hope is to have all our pick-up students out before the second wave busses arrive.
- If that does not happen, please be patient. The adult outside will support your student getting to your car when the busses have stopped moving.
Thank you for your patience and safety as we all work together to keep this process running smoothly and safely.
March Behavior Focus: Keeping Our Hands To Ourselves
Last week Mrs. Lamothe and Mr. Altland held team meetings to review Scott expectations. We reminded everyone that our primary focus when we are at Scott is to learn, and do everything we can to be better at the end of the day than we were when we started.
Mrs. Lamothe and Mr. Altland have been having many more conversations with students about personal space and keeping hands to themselves. Even "friendly" taps and shoves have no place in the hallways and classrooms because they quickly can turn sour when not received correctly.
All "horseplay" referrals will be tracked this month and students that meet the expectation will have the opportunity to go outside for a recess on the Tuesday before Spring Break.
We also spoke about continuing to have our phones off and away (The students have been doing a great job with this! ), not chewing gum, and keeping hoods down.
We appreciate your support in helping us remind your student of the safety expectations at Scott.
