A Message from Principal Gordon
Dear Lincoln Families,
Welcome back from Winter Break! We ended 2020 with "A Virtual Magical Holiday Extravaganza" featuring magician Scott Green and I'd have to say it was a huge success. Seeing our students enjoying the magic show was such a heartwarming experience for myself and the staff. I really loved seeing the families come together, the shocked faces and laughter of the kiddos at the show. What fun!
As we are gearing up for our next phase, I wanted to share our school information from the Trimester 2 commitment survey. We had about 58% of families elect for the Hybrid Model for their children and 42% elected to remain remote. This format is scheduled to begin February 1, 2021 and continue through March 12, 2021. More information regarding schedules, procedures and more will be forthcoming.
Again, welcome back and I wish everyone a happy and healthy start to the new year!
Take care,
Ms. Gordon

Spotlight On!!!
The children asked really thoughtful questions and learned what it is like to be a senator in the state of Illinois. They even asked about his future aspirations, the tough part of his job, and how he got involved in politics. Special thank you to former Lincoln parent, Eileen Lynch, who works with Senator Harmon and helped to coordinate everything.
Staff Shout Outs
My son (understandably) really struggles with staying attentive in Zoom first grade. Mrs. Barker has been endlessly patient, kind, and understanding in helping encourage him to stay engaged in class. I often hear her voice in my house, just gently saying "R..? R.., are you there? Come on over!" and then he will come over and re-engage. She doesn't get frustrated with him or make him feel bad. She just keeps trying...over and over...and over...kindly...to reel him back in. We are grateful.
- Ms. Baum
SeƱora Ruiz is doing an excellent job keeping my daughter's learning and excited about Spanish. My 1st grader is even speaking more Spanish to me on her own! Thankful for her passion and energy she brings to Zoom!
- Jackie Castaneda
I would like to shout out Ms. Goulding for her wonderful patience with her 4th grade class. She has been a major support for my son and we are very grateful to have her as his teacher. She is such a great teacher. Thank you for all that you do!!
- Sade Mcelroy
Mrs. Casselle, thank you for the job that you are doing with my grandson. His sister was in your class and she really admired you. I was so happy when I heard that you were going to be his fourth grade teacher. Sometime I sit and listen to his lessons. You are so creative and you are able to get the kids involved and excited. Keep up the excellent job.
- Helen Little
Ms. Meisinger has been a constant champion for my son who is a student in her third grade class. Her compassion and commitment is unwavering even with all the challenges of remote learning. She has has shown such patience and understanding, I don't know how we could have made it this far without her guidance. Thank you for all you do everyday!
- Kate Arneth
Ms. Jacoby makes Spanish really fun. Her activities involve so much creativity and physical activity in addition to language learning. She also reached out to check on my son when she noticed he didn't have his camera on and was wandering off. It was nice for my son and for us to know that even with the many students she teaches, she noticed that he was struggling at times and took the time to contact us. She is very flexible and patient and understands the limitations that kids have with the ability to engage online for long periods of time!

Parent Leadership Training
The Collaboration for Early is offering Parent Leadership Training. This is a great opportunity for local parents and caregivers to build their own leadership skills and work together in the community.
Training helps parents and families:
- Set goals for themselves, their family and the community
- Breakdown the goal setting process into actionable steps while getting the support of their peers and the training facilitators (all the facilitators are parents from Oak Park!)
