Happy Holidays from the Webers
2012
Our family
Wow! Is it the end of 2012 already? Where has that time gone? We did not send out a Christmas greeting last year so I will try and update you with as much info. as I can about what has been going on in the Weber household over the past 2 years. In September 2011 we moved from our home of 15 years in Hiawatha to Northeast Cedar Rapids. Its actually Loren's childhood home. Loren's parents downsized to a Condo in May of 2011 so we decided it was a good time to make a move. We have more room in the new house and have done some updating. Loren now has the "man cave" that he has always wanted. in October/November we built a 20 by 40 garage for all of Loren's toys, including our camper. Our travels took us to Branson, Missouri for a week in June. We camped and spent time with Deanna's Dad and nephew and took in a few shows and sites of Branson. Below is our most recent church portrait.
Kara's adventures
Kara turned 15 this summer and was fortunate enough to take part in a mission trip to Missouri. Our church youth group took part in helping those who lost homes in the tornadoes last year. Kara thoroughly enjoyed the experience and said she would like to go back again! Kara took Driver's Ed in July and August and has a school permit. We inherited Loren's parents old car when we bought the house. Kara isn't too thrilled about driving it but until she gets a job, she will be driving the oldsmobile back and forth to school. She also played tennis for Kennedy High School last spring and is excited to continue with that this spring again. Kara is also taking 2 advanced placement classes this year. Her schedule is very hectic with studies! She continues to do very well academically and has become an NCIS fanatic!
Anna's Antics
Anna is now 12 1/2 and she's NEVER home. She's a 7th grader at Harding Middle School and played soccer for Harding this fall and now we are into basketball season. Anna also plays Jr. Cougars Basketball as well as indoor and outdoor U14 AYSO soccer. As you can probably tell, we are constantly on the move with her activities. Anna is our social butterfly. She is in perpetual motion and always has something going on. Last spring Anna tore her meniscus and was laid up all summer with the knee injury. She went through a couple of months worth of physical therapy and is pretty much back to normal. Anna's most recent happening is that she broke her pinky finger on her left hand at basketball practice. This has taken her out of basketball for 4 weeks. Accident prone child? I would say so! She is in her first year of confirmation at church and plays in a middle school bell choir. Anna is our happy go lucky child and always has something interesting to say.
Loren's projects
Loren continues to be very busy with projects at work and home. He just had his 8th anniversary with Centro Inc. in September. He is a great soccer Dad and carts Anna to many of her games. In his spare time, Loren is still unpacking from our move more than a year ago. He's still finding things that he's been looking for since we moved. He has been a patient teacher as Kara ventured into the world of driving. Presently, he is working on his "man cave". Organizing and putting things in storage spaces. Deanna's Dad comes to visit quite often and you will see the two of them tinkering on many different projects. Just like 2 peas in a pod!
Deanna's World
Deanna continues to be extremely busy with school events both at work and home. This year Deanna is advisor of the middle school year book. That has been an interesting undertaking but working with the middle schoolers has been rewarding and there is definitely never a dull moment. As our school gears up to add more technology into the classrooms, Deanna has taken more of a lead role in mentoring and guiding students and staff in new technologies that are currently available. Deanna continues to play in Tower Bells at church. Other activities include the girls events and the occasional time out with Loren. Deanna has taken up a fitness routine and runs about 2.5 miles/day. Anxiety issues have been a problem and the exercise has been a godsend!
As we prepare for this holiday season, we are reminded of the coming of our savior and what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. We will be spending this Christmas season at home with Loren's parents, brother, and Deanna's Dad. We wish each and everyone of you a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year!
