Red Ribbon Week
Brevard Academy is proud to celebrate Red Ribbon Week once again in an effort to JUST SAY NO to drugs. Here is a schedule of events this week:
Monday: We will "Shade Out" drugs by wearing our sunglasses to school.
Tuesday: We will "Team Up" against drugs by wearing your favorite team jersey or shirt.
Wednesday: Let's "Sock It" to drugs by wearing your wild and crazy socks!
Thursday: It's Halloween so lets "Scare Away" drugs by wearing your awesome costume to school! We will have a costume parade that morning.
Friday: Be a "Jeanus/Genius" and don't do drugs by wearing jeans! It is also our Pink Out Assembly so make sure you wear your pinkest of pink shirts!
The D.E.A. website has a plethora of information, but, here is a quick summary of the history of Red Ribbon Week.
Lunch Service
Our first week of lunch service was wonderful! As we fine tune the process and the menu, we would like to thank all of our bulldog families for their support and patience as we implement this new system. As we work out the kinks, rest assured we will communicate with you regarding any pertinent information.
The website should be up and running for registration and loading funds. If you need any assistance, please call Ms. Kingdon at 828-885-2665.
Please register by November 4th.
Our Duck Pond Pottery Mugs Are Ready for Sale
Duck Pond Pottery has cranked out some beautifully original pieces of pottery specifically for Brevard Academy! We have a limited amount available for purchase in the front office. They are $25 a piece. What an awesome gift to give (hint hint).
Pink Out for Hope Chest
This week will conclude our fund raising efforts in honor of breast cancer awareness month. It is not too late to make a contribution. All funds raised will be presented to the Director of the Hope Chest on Friday at our Pink Out Assembly. If we get 100% participation and reach our goal. Mr. Duncan will dye his hair pink!!
The Hope Chest is a non-profit dedicated to relieving some of the financial burden brought on by the diagnosis of this horrible disease. They have also expanded their mission overseas through mission trips aimed at providing life saving gynecological surgeries in poverty stricken areas.
What an amazing cause!
Costume Parade
Each year, on October 31st, our bulldogs, from the tiniest to the oldest, done costumes, whether homemade or store-bought and make their way through the hallways. While we encourage creativity and ingenuity, we would like to make sure we maintain all aspects of safety and learning crucial to the school setting. Please take note of the costume restrictions set forth:
- Come dressed in costume and bring a uniform to change into.
- Costumes may NOT include face paint of any kind.
- No masks are allowed.
- Weapons of any kind are prohibited.
- Middle school costumes must come from the Core Knowledge curriculum.
You are more than welcome to watch the parade and take photos. Please park in a designated parking space and check-in at the side door. Don't forget to bring your phone or camera to get pictures. We will live stream the event on Facebook as well.
Intramurals This Week
We will have Intramurals on Tuesday (10/29) and Thursday (10/31) of next week. We are playing kickball for the next 2 weeks. The cost is $5/day. See Coach Burroughs or the front office for registration forms. If you have any questions about Intramurals, please email Coach B at bburroughs@brevardacademy.school
Old News
Break Out That Winter Wear
With cooler weather on the horizon, please be sure your children are arriving to school in weather appropriate gear. All classes venture outside for not only recess, but for Outdoor Education and we want to make sure every child is comfortable enough to stay outside for extended periods of time. Please remember, only uniform approved sweatshirts, coats, and vests will be allowed to be worn inside the building.
Visitors, Help Keep Us Safe
When visiting the campus, for any length of time, please be sure to park in the designated parking spots and walk in. Cars blocking the fire lane causes unsafe conditions to all on campus, should there be an emergency. Also, please remember to bring a photo ID in each time you visit the campus.

Turn Right When Exiting 7:35-7:50 and 3:00-3:20
During and morning and afternoon carline, traffic congestion is becoming an increasingly problematic issue. We encourage drivers to exit right onto Glade Creek Road. The continuous flow of traffic is crucial to an efficient arrival and dismissal process.
We are working with DOT to put in other safety measures, but we need your help.
Please consider this alternate route, when leaving the campus to ensure the safe departure of all BA families. We appreciate your cooperation in advance.
Yearbook Season!!!
Yearbooks are available for purchase! From Now until November 30th yearbooks are priced at $35 with options to personalize. Please click here to order your child a gift that they will enjoy a lifetime.
