The Same Message....On Repeat
Families,
As I sat down at my computer to write this week's message...I was a little stuck. I felt the same way at the end of a very busy week as I have in past weeks:
1. Amazed by the students
2. Thankful to the staff
3. Appreciative of great family support
But, I didn't know how to say the same message again--on repeat. And yet, when I thought about what that meant, I realized that having the same message over and over isn't bad--it is consistent.
This year has been different (to say the least), and there are NEW rules, NEW procedures, and NEW guidance. Add to that the fact that some of those new things have to change with the changing times. However, for the staff and students, all of the NEW things have become almost second nature because the staff is consistent and the students appreciate that.
I am proud of everyone for continuing to strive for safety and learning above all else.
Together we can. Together we will.

Water bottles
Please remember to send your students with water bottles that can be refilled at school. The water fountains remain closed at WDS for student and staff safety. But, we do have bottle fillers a way students can get water throughout the day.
Pick-Up, Drop-Off, and Traffic Tips
*For the safety of staff, students, and other families--please do not bring pets on campus.
*If you are going to be within 6 feet of students or staff- please wear a mask.

The holiday and winter seasons are fast approaching, and Womenade of Elkhorn is sponsoring the Celebration of Giving Project for Elkhorn Public School District families. This program provides holiday gifts for families with children birth-18 who have limited financial abilities and would like assistance in providing gifts for their children.
In order to participate in this project, we ask that you completely fill out the attached paperwork and return it to school before November 5, 2020. It may be returned in person, by mail or electronically. Unfortunately if the paperwork is not returned by the deadline, Womenade will not have time to process your requests. If you are not interested in the program for your family, do not return the forms.
Further information about pick up dates and locations will be shared at a later time. If you have any questions, please contact me using the information below.

PTO FUN RUN INFORMATION
The West Dodge Station Fun Run is Tuesday!
It’s not too late! You can still help our school by:
REGISTER your student on FUNRUN.COM
SHARE with friends and family on FUNRUN.COM
It has been a great week of fundraising to help our school, with over $19,000 raised already. We have a very special challenge for THIS WEEKEND ONLY. Any student who gets pledges for a total of $2 per lap, which is $60 in flat donations, or more, in NEW DONATIONS over the weekend, will receive a Bonus Prize — the Roll Up Sunglasses. This is a chance to earn a BONUS prize in addition to the normal prizes! Remember to put all of those donations on FUNRUN.COM!
Plus, here is our biggest, most rewarding challenge of the program: if the school reaches our goal of raising $20,000 before the Fun Run, the ENTIRE school will earn a PJ and Popcorn Party Day! Just for sharing your pledging link with friends and family, your student will be entered for a chance to win FREE prizes at the end of the program. All you have to do is share your pledge link on Facebook, email, and by text via the easy sharing tools on FunRun.com. We will announce the winners at the end of the program!
On Tuesday, the Fun Run will be a little different than it was in years past. Each grade will run at the same time, but each classroom will have a separate track, spread out across the school grounds. While families cannot attend this year due to district guidelines, our WDS teachers, staff and a limited number of PTO volunteers will be there to cheer on our students and make sure everyone is safe and having a great time. Students will run 30-35 laps around the tracks.
Even if your student is not attending school in person, they can still get in on the fun at home. Regardless of financial donation to the program, every student can participate in the physical portion of the program, if they choose. Students can run laps, complete fitness challenges, or do some dance moves. The goal is to have them do 30-35 of any of these. If you or other sponsors have made a per-lap pledge, their participation will be logged into the system in order to complete the donation. If your student chooses to participate at home, please use this form to report how many laps/fitness challenges/dance moves they complete.
