Join the BGHS Choir
As you're thinking about musical options for your students for the 2024-25 school year, especially if you have 8th graders coming to the high school, you might want to think about choir. Many of you know Mr. Lindner for working with the 3rd jazz band, and he's excited to work to rebuild the choir program at BGHS. There are 3 primary options for students: Pop Choir, Concert Choir, and Chamber Choir. Pop choir is for students who have never sung in a choir before and want to learn the basics of music while singing some popular music. Concert choir is a more advanced choir that will perform a mix of accompanied and a cappella music. Chamber choir is an auditioned choir that will sing all a cappella music and (hopefully) have the opportunity to travel and compete. If you have or know of a student who is interested, have them talk with their counselor and Mr. Lindner (lindner.david@battlegroundps.org). One more note: Students who are thinking about a career in music should strongly consider signing up for Music Theory. This will be an opportunity to build a foundation for what the music theory will be required to know in college. Thanks!

Review proposed new teaching and learning materials
Battle Ground Public Schools is considering new science curriculum for middle school students in grades 6-8, as well as new social studies curricula and a horticulture textbook at the high school level.
Over the past year, committees of parents, guardians, teachers and community members evaluated the new materials. You can now review the materials that were recommended and provide your input.
After reviewing the materials in person or online, take a brief survey to provide your input by Friday, April 5, at noon. This input will be considered as the proposed curricula are presented to the school board. A first reading of the proposed curricula is scheduled for the April 8 board meeting. If approved, the new curricula would be used starting in the 2024-25 school year.
