Happy Memorial Day
Welcome to Scituate Mrs. Blanchette!
The Scituate School Committee is pleased to announce the hiring of Carol Blanchette as its next Superintendent of Schools.
“We are thrilled to have found such a highly-qualified individual to lead our school system,” said School Committee Chair Brian LaPlante. “The School Committee shares my belief that Ms. Blanchette is the ideal candidate to build on our history of distinction, recent improvements, and imminent launch of over $5 million in school capital improvement projects, expanding CTE programs, technology enhancements, and other initiatives. She has the critical team building and educational leadership experience to guide our school system into the future.”
The Superintendent search committee, comprised of school committee members, building principals, teachers, and parents, reviewed the resumes of dozens of candidates, held interviews, and made its decision over the last four weeks. Applicants from across southern New England sought the job.
“There was a large number of highly qualified individuals who applied for this position,” said School Committee member Carolyn Dias, who led the search process. “We were pleased but not surprised at how many see Scituate as an ideal opportunity.”
Ms. Blanchette will start June 25. She is currently the Chief of Teaching and Learning at the Rhode Island State Department of Education where she leads the work of the Offices of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment; Professional Development, Educator Evaluation, Certification; and, Special Education and Community Supports for the State of Rhode Island.
Her previous experience includes serving as the Superintendent of Schools in Jamestown. She is a former elementary principal, middle school principal, and assistant superintendent in Chariho. She began her career as a classroom teacher in Warwick, RI, and also taught in Massachusetts and Georgia. A former Chariho School Committee member, Ms. Blanchette has also served as secretary, vice president, and president-elect for the RI Association of School Superintendents.
Ms. Blanchette received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Providence College, her Master’s Degree in Education from Bridgewater State University, and her Certificate of Graduate Study in Leadership from the University of Georgia.

Athletic Booster Awards Night
On Thursday, May 31st we will host athletes and their families in the auditorium for an awards and recognition evening very similar to past athletic banquets. We will serve light refreshments that you can enjoy whilst listening to the accomplishments of our various outstanding athletic teams. Next year we plan to break this event up into seasonal awards evenings. Smaller, timely celebrations will be a nice way to cap off a season and will allow us to be more creative with the presentations.
