Moving 15 Forward
The Moving 15 Forward has allowed our District to begin repairs and restore our facilities. At Jane Addams, the work has begun to bring full-day kindergarten for all students to our elementary school, update our school library and create some innovative additional learning spaces.
We are certain you have notice the initial phases of this Jane Addams addition adjacent to our playground. These additional learning spaces will be the future homes of our kindergarten rooms. To learn even more about the proposed improvements visit www.ccsd15.net/Moving15Forward.

Jane Addams Honors Veterans
Each year, we decorate a Veteran's Day Heart as a symbol of caring and remembrance. The theme for Veterans Day 2023 is Service. Veteran's Day is a celebration to honor American's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingess to serve and sacrifice.
This year, we will create cards and honor our vets through one of our monthly celebrations we have earned by being responsible, respectful, and safe. Your student will honor a vet while writing on this heart. Our school will be presenting this to a veteran at Jane Addams on November 13th.
Our students send letters each year to a group of Veterans as they travel aboard Honor Flight. The letters are provided as a special surprise to honor a veteran on this flight to DC as he or she reads his mail call. These letters can be pictures or simply words of thanks to the vet.
Mail call letters will be delivered to the veterans that speak to our 6th grade students at Jane Addams on November 13th. We will provide these letters to those that coordinate the Honor Flight as well as to veterans who speak to the 6th grade students.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

Jane Addams Structured for Independence Program ~ Annual SPARK Reminder
SPARK meetings are designed to give parents information to help them in their current and future steps of the journey of parenting children with unique needs. As parents, we guide and make decisions for our children and their development. The task can be overwhelming and we want nothing more than to be as informed as we can be when we set the course we believe our child should take. The SPARK committee and District 15 are grateful to have you and desire to serve you such that your journey is successful!
At SPARK we realize the importance of providing:
- Relevant programs and resources related to special education
- Opportunities to network, receive support and help
- Connections for parents with outside sources
The above are primarily accomplished at the district level through evening programs with outside speakers. We have SPARK representatives at each school who are a local contact and resource to the individual schools. We also have an online support group. If you would like to subscribe to this group, send a request to https://www.facebook.com/groups/1688046171274344/.
Please download our flyer (or see below) for the meeting dates and topics. Our meetings will take place virtually. Please join our Facebook group referenced above for the most up-to-date information on meeting locations, virtual links, and other changes.
SPARK is a Northwest Suburban Council of PTA/PTSA committee serving families of children with special needs in Community Consolidated School District 15 and beyond. SPARK is proud to be in partnership with PTA!
