🧡 We Want To Say Thank You To Our Teachers and Staff and YOU Can Too!🧡
Our Student Council and Leadership Team is sponsoring a Staff Appreciation Week, May 6-10. We are providing some fun, food, and laughter to thank them for all they do for our students. You know the teachers who spend extra time just to see students have an ah-ha moment... to the coaches who teach how to be strong and resilient...to the staff who keep HUHS running.
If you're thinking, "I do appreciate them!" - please consider donating to this week's activities by sending a gift card or financial donation by May 3rd to the high school office. We will be doing daily gift card raffles to give the a BIG thank you!
In Case You Missed It! NEW Direct Admit Wisconsin Program
Parents/Guardians of Class of 2025

Honored at School Board Meeting
Educator of the Year - Math Teacher Christine Dubnicka with Superintendent Jeff Walters and President Tracy Hennes
Christine Dubnicka is a dedicated educator known for her love of teaching math, building meaningful relationships with her students, and having fun with her coworkers. Born in Milwaukee to young parents, Christine's upbringing was shaped by a bustling household focused on family, faith, and having fun! As the family quickly expanded with the addition of three siblings, the family relocated to Sussex where her parents can still be found. Her childhood was idyllic, filled with family fishing trips, sports teams, and nights playing rummy and board games. Although her siblings would probably describe her as “bossy” and thoroughly enjoyed watching her cry through episodes of Little House on the Prairie, she is so grateful for their tight-knit family.
As a student at Sussex Hamilton, Christine excelled academically while thriving on the volleyball and softball teams. Despite being a Top 10 Student, the prospect of college didn't cross her mind until her senior year when a guidance counselor nudged her towards higher education. Christine and her best friend Lisa decided on UW-Eau Claire, drawn by its unfamiliarity and distance from home, no college visit required! While at Eau Claire, Christine double majored in mathematics and business administration and spent 2 years on the softball team. Early on Christine had declared math education as her major, but a summer job at an insurance company who promised a good-paying job after graduation convinced her to shift her focus to business management. Christine was fortunate to work with a fantastic group of people at the insurance company, but after 12 years in management, she felt a calling to return to education. With three young boys at home, she went back to school at night. With the help of her parents and husband Jeff, she quickly finished the teaching degree and was so fortunate to receive an offer from Hartford Union High School.
Throughout the past 22 years at HUHS, Christine has been passionate about building relationships with her students and coworkers. She truly enjoys hearing about her students’ lives outside of the classroom and can often be found at the musicals, sporting events, plays, or eating at their place of employment. She is very proud of the fact she and Kristen Helms started the Math Club together 13 years ago and created the annual Middle School Math Meet. So many of our students have fond memories of attending the math meet during their middle school years.
In her spare time, Christine enjoys exploring the great outdoors, reading, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She and her husband love to travel and recently camped and hiked through the Canadian Rockies and will do the same this summer in Iceland. When not traveling, she cherishes her time with her kids, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, high school friends, her former colleagues, the old softball team, and her office BFF’s.
Christine credits her faith, family, and friends for who she is today. Her husband Jeff is a recently retired software engineer who has always been incredibly supportive of everything she does. They have three wonderful boys and two daughters-in-law, who make every get-together special. She can’t wait to see her family continue to grow! Christine loves what she does and is very thankful for all of the amazing colleagues and talented students she has the pleasure of working with every day. She says it is an extraordinary honor to be named the 2024 Educator of the Year!
