Parents & Community
August 28, 2020 - Week 23
Volunteers needed!
La Luz Family Resource Center at El Verano Elementary School is looking for volunteers. The mission of the “Supporting our Students” program is to bring a much-needed service to our community as a result of this new reality of virtual learning we are encountering. We want to provide a connection to one-on-one tech and tutoring services with the goal of serving any student in Sonoma Valley that needs additional support in school. By providing this service virtually, we hope to overcome obstacles that may include; transportation, language, time/availability, and need. Click here for more information on the program.
Teen Services and the Boys and Girls Club's Teen Club are teaming up for high school students!
Teen Services and the Boys and Girls Club's Teen Club are teaming up to provide a safe, socially distanced space (2/3 of which is outdoors) where high school students can come and have access to the internet and a calm, focused environment with a friendly staff to assist them with whatever they may need during their school day. COVID-19 sanitization and screening protocols are in place. We'll remain open until 5:00 for the Club's usual programming as well as additional community service opportunities including organic gardening and cooking for the homeless. Attached is a flyer in both English and Spanish, as well as an FAQ for parents and a letter to teens describing our program. This is the link to register that parents need to complete if they want their teen to participate.
