AYFS Toiletry Collection
Kindness for our Auburn community: Bryn Mawr is collecting toiletries for AYFS. Donations such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, fash wash, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, dental floss, deodorant, nail clippers, lip balm/Chapstick, hair elastics, brush/comb, cotton swabs, shaving cream, etc. are all greatly appreciated. We will be collecting donations for the entire month of January.
Kindness is Cool Random Acts of Kindness Assignment
Students will be given a fish cut out. They are asked to think of a way they can show kindness at home or in the community. Please support your student in writing down their random act of kindness on their fish and please include their name. As part of our Great Kindness Challenge, we will create a bulletin board. Please return the fish by Friday, January 26, 2024. Fish can be turned into classroom teachers. Thank you for helping us instill kindness both at home and school.
Art News
Hello families!
I hope you are well and have enjoyed what your children have been bringing home from art class. We have been cruising through the elements of art over the last few months and have expanded our knowledge of lines to shapes, color theory, and will be moving on to value soon. Value is the lightness or darkness of a color. I have linked the fun song that we will be listening to in class below.
Each grade level is going to be working on multi-step projects that require several different mediums and techniques. Stay tuned for some incredible creations and please be sure to ask them about the history/cultural significance of the projects.
Remember to send them to school in clothes that can come home with a little “creativity” on them when it is their scheduled art day. If you would like to donate baby wipes to help clean up their little hands, that would be greatly appreciated.
I would appreciate the donation of baby wipes for our upcoming paint projects!
Please do not ever hesitate to reach out to me with any questions and please feel free to contact me if your child has shared what they have learned in class with you… They get something special for doing that!
Be well,
Jenna Bailey
Technology Newsletter
Happy New Year! We have some exciting things happening in Technology class this year. We are working on Science (STEAM) Units in Technology classes for the next few months. We are using an amazing program called Project Lead the Way and the creativity is flowing!
In Kindergarten, the students are learning about Pushes, pulls and force. In this Unit, the students are asked to help Mylo, Suzi and Angelina (PLTW characters) construct a way to help move heavy rocks without picking them up so that a swing set can be placed in their spot. The students will learn to identify, discuss and fix mistakes and to also realize that mistakes are a part of the learning process.
The First Graders are participating in a unit where they need to design a shoe for someone who is traveling to the desert. They will be doing a lot of research on the desert and desert animals before working collaboratively on a shoe design that will withstand the harsh desert weather as well as be comfortable and light enough to wear on the trip.
The Second graders will be working on a project that involves preventing a landslide. They will be studying maps, landforms and the changing Earth to help identify ways to prevent a landslide from ruining a house on the bottom of a hill.
Stay tuned for some wonderful learning going on in our school!

Press Release for PE!
Happy New Year Families!
I hope everyone had a wonderful vacation spending time with loved ones! As we return from time off, we will spend time reviewing the rules and expectations being reinforced through cooperative games. This will allow the students to work on cooperation, team-building, and communication. After, our next units will focus on manipulative skills which are movement skills that require an ability to handle an object or piece of equipment with control. These skills will be practiced through basketball (dribbling) and striking with our body. I look forward to the continued progress as we enter the New Year!
As a reminder as we enter the cold winter months, please send your child in with a pair of sneakers on PE days for safety. Thank you for your continued support!
In good health,
Miss. D
Music Update
Happy Winter to All!
The students are looking forward to our Winter Concerts on January 29, 2024 (snow date 1/30/24)! They have been practicing at school with their classmates and enjoying singing together!
If your student(s) would like to practice at home, here is a helpful link with songs for all 3 grade levels: 2024 WINTER CONCERT PRACTICE LYRICS AND MUSIC
Your student(s) can sing to their heart’s content at home and entertain the family during this winter season!
With all of the fun at this time of year there are some spectacular musical and theatrical events for families to enjoy! Be sure to check out the listings of your local news outlets and online resources to find the best Worcester County has to offer!
We look forward to seeing you all at our concerts and hope that you have a wonderful winter season!

Reading Ideas from Mrs. Fenuccio
Need something for the curious child to explore as winter comes? Check www.wonderopolis.org Each day there is a short video, a short passage (which can be read by the narrator), vocabulary words, and a quiz. You can also search previous wonders by subject area and even by keyword. This is an engaging way to expose children to non-fiction and a great activity to do with your child. I encourage you to look with your child to help navigate the challenging text and provide discussion on the topics.
Social Emotional Learning Our Counselor Mrs. Moriarty
Social Emotional Learning with Mrs. Moriarty
As we head into a new year, students will continue to explore different coping skills that they can use to help them manage big feelings and keep their bodies and brains ready to learn. In December, students had a great time using different art mediums such as paint, play-doh, drawing and coloring to express their feelings. Using art is a great way for students to express how they feel, calm and relax their bodies and enjoy being creative! Ask your child about our January “Coping Skill of the Month!”, listening to music! Students will be exposed to different types of music to see how they make them feel.
Reading with Gracie!
Bryn Mawr has had the wonderful opportunity to work with a therapy dog and her handler, Officer Michael Salerno from The College of the Holy Cross. Bryn Mawr students are able to read to Gracie which builds their confidence as they learn how to read. She also loves to snuggle and play, which can brighten anyone's day!
Auburn Public LIbrary Book Return
If you still have a book from the field trip to the Auburn Public Library at home, you can return this book with no late fees to us at Bryn Mawr School. This is an update of the missing book totals from each homeroom. Please double check and send your student in with the book they borrowed as soon as possible.
