Music Memos
Happy Holidays, everyone! The last few weeks in music, kindergarten and first grade learned “Jolly Old St. Nick” as well as a little bit about Hannukah through the songs “Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel” and “Hannukah, Oh Hannukah.” They applied their knowledge of percussion technique to play the hand drum, tambourine, and triangle along with these songs. Some classes were also able to play a game with a dreidel. Meanwhile, 2nd and 4th grade are adding movements to their musicals and beginning to practice staging for each performance. Third grade has learned the notes “B,” “A,” and “G” on the recorder, as well as how to read music notes on a staff. Finally, 5th and 6th grade are finishing their composition and composition performance, with part of the day dedicated to practice, and part to performing their composition for the class, wherein the class grades their performance.
Blue and Sapphire Choirs are continuing long rehearsals into next week, with practice going until 4pm. Practice in January will be with Sapphire and Silver choirs (not blue) the first Tuesday after winter break. Practices will resume normal practice times, from 2:15 - 3:15. If your child is in Blue choir, he/she may keep their shirt after the winter performance and we look forward to seeing you again at the end of the year field trip. If your child is in Sapphire choir, your child will return his/her t-shirt after the winter performance. We will have a dress rehearsal next week, Wednesday, December 19th, from 8:00am to 8:50am in the gym for the school, and our final performance at 5pm December 20th. Thank you so much for all you do to support these students.
As always, feel free to call, email, or stop by if you have questions or would just like to say “hi”!.

BIZ TOWN VOLUNTEERS - THANK YOU!!! Our 5th graders who went to Biz Town on Monday had a GREAT time! Thank you to the commitment of the volunteers who gave of their day for our students to experience such a great day!
A special shout out to Annette McCoy, Sandy Watts, Linda McCoy, Angie Oehlert, and Kati Crouch...returning volunteers who did not even have a child participating!
Marianne Opdahl (McBride parent) has graciously volunteered her time to accompany choir this year and we really appreciate her time, energy, and flexibility in helping choir improve every Tuesday. Thank you!
Krissy Shaw (McBride Parent and Substitute employee) Mrs. Shaw stayed past her time to help the PLC class complete their art projects to send home to families for Christmas. She volunteered to just stay and help when she saw that more needed to be done. We're so thankful for her.
Mr. Scott (McBride Custodian)- Mr. Scott handles all the mini emergencies with ease.
Martin Hehman (McBride Special Education Teacher) -Mr. Hehman picked up cafeteria duties while Mr. Scott was taking care of the second throw up of the day. (Five people reported this "chipping in" where needed, Mr. Hehman!!!) Mr. Hehman has also been so gracious to offer his time and leadership when Mrs. Tyler is out of the building. He has stepped up this year to support McBride and Mrs. Tyler when she cant be at McBride. This week when Mrs. Tyler was sick he suggested she go home to rest! That was a huge gift! Thank you!
Sarah Landels - (4th Grade Teacher) Miss Landels goes the extra mile to bring cheer to her students and coworkers.
Sharon Shiel, Chris Swift, Julie Nielsen and Michelle Flock (McBride Support Staff) - They were flexible and gracious to supervise in the cafeteria for extra behavior support.
Darcy Soto (High School Assistant Principal) - Ms. Soto offered to come to McBride to serve in Mrs. Tyler's spot on Thursday this week so she could take other staff to a conference. Ms. Soto was enthusiastic about coming and was a bright smile to students, staff and families. Thank you, Ms. Soto.
Linda DiPietro (Retired McBride Teacher/Guest Teacher) Mrs. diPietro stepped in to cover for Mrs. Nelson as she's on a short-term leave of absence. The transition has been seamless. Linda is a friendly, familiar face and students are able to fully access library services.
Mary Beatley (PLC Staff Member) Mrs. Beatley is an all around amazing person and a go getter! She steps in and helps out whenever she can. We so appreciate her kind heart, helping hands, and joyous self!
Kerry Marshall (McBride Counselor) - Mrs. Marshall is always willing to lend a hand, or an ear to a staff member or student, in need. Ms. Green appreciates her support and wisdom.
