St Cecilia's Catholic Primary School - May 19
Almost half term...
I hope that you are enjoying the Summer term, it is certainly progressing at a pace, this half term is almost over, we close this Friday for the summer half term at our usual time.
Autumn Half Term
I was reminded this morning of an issue which may affect you in the Autumn term, the Sutton October half term holiday is not the same as neighbouring education authorities. Our half term is from Monday 21 to Friday 25th October 2019. You may find that flights and other travel will be cheaper as it appears many authorities have chosen the following week for their holiday - best to book quickly before word gets out!
You can find our holiday dates for the next year here.
May is the Month of Mary and in school we have been saying the rosary at lunchtimes and remembering to say the Hail Mary in our daily prayers. We will have a Crowning of Our Lady's statue this Thursday in a special assembly.
We would be grateful for small donations of flowers which could be brought up to the altar as part of the ceremony. All donated flowers will be taken to the Hospice after the ceremony.
Best wishes for the half term holiday,
Vince Burke

Sports Day News - there's a form to complete - please check your email
We have taken on board all the tremendously positive feedback from last year - so on the whole the day will run in a very similar format.
A Google Form was sent to the main registered parent for each child at 5pm. on Tuesday 21st May. Thank you to those who have already responded.
We need to know:
- your child's travel arrangements
- whether or not they require a seat on a school bus to/from the Sports Centre
- if the receive a school lunch, their packed lunch request
We are sending the form to the nominated contact for each family, it just needs to be returned once and we would like it by Tuesday 4 June. Please make sure to complete the form and remember that seats on the coaches are limited. if you are the nominated contact and you have not recevied the form, please check your spam inbox. School Development
Our school reorganisation and budget setting process which is currently ongoing has delayed our deployment of Pupil Asset Assessment and the publication of the app for parents.
We are currently agreeing our report format with Pupil Asset and we hope that our end of year reports will be published via the app towards the end of term. We will publish details of the App after the May half term once we are a little further along the road with our testing programme.
Many thanks for your support with handwriting at home, it is so important that children shape their letters correctly and write legibly. A recent learning walk has shown much improvement in handwriting, please keep up the focus at home.
Y3 and Tate Britain
As you may have seen in the media, in September A New Direction (in partnership with Tate and Artangel), launched the Tate Year 3 Project with Turner Prize and Oscar-winning artist, Steve McQueen. We are joining with Y3 classes from across London to take part in the largest group portrait ever made.
This unique programme will provide an epic picture of our city’s pupils and our rich civic diversity, whilst allowing London’s seven to eight-year-olds to explore their hopes and futures, resulting in a 6-month exhibition in the prestigious Duveen Galleries at Tate Britain. It has been described as one of the 'most compelling artworks of our time'.
We are pleased to be taking part, photographers will be here on 9 July, Year 3 parents have been asked to sign a consent form in order for their child to participate.
