Holbrook Weekly Newsletter
November 1, 2021
THANK YOU for attending parent-teacher conferences and for supporting our Red Ribbon Week Spirit Week last week! It was so wonderful to see our students and staff dressed up each day and to culminate the week with our Halloween parade. All of our costume clad and dressed "to the nines" Jets looked spooktacular! A very special thank you to all of our amazing parents who volunteered their time to coordinate the event!
2021 Golden Bell Award Winner
On September 28, we were visited by a validator for our site validation visit. Teachers, parents, a district administrator, and I were interviewed by our validator. We recently learned we received a successful on-site validation and are now a winner. Thank you to our former principal and our current and former staff for all of their hard work over the last several years.
Board President Cherise Khaund, Marji Calbeck (Director of Elementary Support), Karen Hernandez (3rd Grade Teacher), and I will attend the awards ceremony on December 2 in San Diego.
The CSBA Golden Bell Awards® promote excellence in education and school board governance by recognizing outstanding programs and governance practices of school boards in school districts and county offices of education throughout California. Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of education programs and governance decisions supporting these programs that are necessary to address students’ changing needs.

Respect School Property
The challenges that continue to surface on TikTok have caused a problem across our school district. The damage caused by these challenges has required our custodial staff to divert their attention to cleaning up damage and replacing items instead of attending to their normal tasks and routines. It is also causing additional expenses to the district. Please remind your child of the importance of respecting district property. Any students who are found responsible for vandalism (leaving a mess in the restrooms, destroying school property, etc.) will face consequences, which could include student suspension. In addition, parents may be required to pay for the replacement of damaged property.
Please remind your child that we expect them to be safe, responsible, and respectful.
Thank you for your support with this!
