Message from Dr. Kaminski
Happy Friday BSE Community,
Today I am proud to announce Mrs. Porzuczek (aka. P) as BSE's 2017 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. P is a 4th grade teacher and has had a tremendously powerful year. She has been so exceptional that HSE Schools has also selected her as THE HSE Elementary School Teacher of the Year! Mrs. P will compete for HSE District Teacher of the Year the next few months. We congratulate you, Mrs. P, and thank you for the passion, energy, and creativity you continue to share with the BSE Bears!
I am also thrilled to announce that BSE has received an official Chinese Sister School from Ningbo City, China. Guang Ji Central Elementary is a premier S.T.E.M. school in the city of Ningbo that serves 1,943 students. Gaung Ji is located in a historical setting that has a rich cultural background. Principal Haung of Guang Ji, along with the other Ningbo City administrators, have invited HSE administrators to come visit in October of next year. I can't wait to engage in our new school partnership. Originally we were set to welcome our Sister City to Fishers in August of 2017, however, they did not receive the approval to travel from the Chinese government. That being said, HSE will visit with Ningbo in October and initiate a strong school-to-school partnership. We will then schedule their visit for 2018. There is much to come and so much potential for an amazing experience for our BSE Bears! I'll keep you posted as the partnership develops.

Early Release Mondays Coming to HSE (2017-2018 School Year)
Dear HSE Parents and Guardians:
To provide teachers with consistent and more frequent opportunities for professional development, Hamilton Southeastern Schools will implement a 20-minute, early-release day each Monday for students, K-12, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. In turn, teachers will remain 25 minutes later on Mondays for a total of 45 minutes of professional development time each week. The first observance will be Monday, August 14, 2017.
The new weekly meetings will replace the four professional development half days currently in the 2016-2017 calendar. A link to the 2017-2018 school calendar is below:
http://www.hse.k12.in.us/resources/pdf/ADM/calendars/districtCalendar1718.pdf
High-quality teaching remains the standard in Hamilton Southeastern Schools, and we look forward to advancing professional development. We realize that such a change – once a week – impacts your schedules, and you need as much advance notice as possible to plan for next year. Thank you for your cooperation, and your continuous support of our teachers and students.
Sincerely,
HSE Schools
