OASIS = Oakridge Achievers Successful In School Partners With Windsor Students!!
21st Century Community Learning Center
was awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant (21st CCLC) in 2014.
Through the 21st CCLC grant, Oakridge expanded its after school / out of school
programming to offer even more extended learning opportunities for students grades K-8.
21st CCLC programming includes the use of evidenced-based academic support, educational
enrichment, parent engagement, and family literacy activities, and focuses on improving
academic outcomes and performance in the core areas of reading, math and science.
All Oakridge 21st CCLC programing is aligned with classroom instruction using evidenced-based
academic supports and interventions with licensed teachers retained to provide the academic
components of the program. The program partners with Edmunds Elementary School and
Callanan Middle School, the neighborhood elementary school and regional middle school
serving the students that reside in and around the Oakridge Neighborhood, as well as
Holy Family which also serves a number of Oakridge students. A total of 175 K-8 students are
served at three sites.
With 21st CCLC funds, Oakridge Neighborhood Services has increased the rigor of after school/out
of school academic supports, the frequency of student contacts, provided an expanded portfolio of
educational enrichment activities, and also increased the emphasis on parental engagement and family
literacy. This rigorous programming is facilitated through a 6-day/week “high touch” model aimed at
meeting the academic and educational enrichment needs of high poverty and ELL participants.

Windsor Families,
Welcome back! The 19-20 school year is off and running. I’m daily impressed with the kindness and respect your students show here at Windsor! All the students have been doing a wonderful job following our expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe and are adjusting to our schedule. Here are some tips to keep the school year going strong!
Tips to help your child succeed this year:
- Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep. Many of us have had to adjust our schedules to get to bed earlier than normal.
- Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast at home or grabs a breakfast on their way to the classroom!
- Talk positively about your child’s school and teacher.
- Teach organizational and self-help skills by having even the youngest student practice things such as getting ready in the morning, washing hands, and checking their backpack on their own.
- Make time to talk about the school day and how your student is feeling about school.
- Take attendance seriously. If your child misses school they are missing out on important learning!
- Have your child read every night or listen to someone in the family read every night!
- Reassure your child that if they are having difficulties at school they can talk to you or any trusted adult (teacher, counselor, associate, etc.) at school.
The students were just as excited as the principal for school to start this year! #WindsorWildats
