St. Stan Star
April 26, 2017
From the Principal's desk
It was a joy to return to school this week after having been away for the last few days. Surprisingly (in such a good way!), the students returned ready to learn and in such a good humor. It has been a very pleasant week here at school. Thank you for your part in making that happen.
Yesterday, ten of our students participated in the Diocesan Sponsored Sketch Day at the capitol. You will find names and awards in the STAR today. Congratulations to these students. Thank you, Mrs. Lorang, for acting as our art teacher and supervising these students at the event. What a wonderful way to bring honor and glory to our school. The News Tribune had a picture of one of our students on the front page today.
Grandparents Day is Friday, April 28th. Grandparents can pick up their grandchildren from the gym before Mass, preferably before 7:50 a.m. Grandparents who bring their grandchildren to school that day can go straight to church for Mass. Following the mass, there will be refreshments and a special assembly for students and grandparents in the gym. Activities should be completed by 10:00 a.m. Students will be expected to stay the remainder of the day.
The teachers and I had a wonderful learning time in St. Louis last week at the NCEA convention. It was a good time for us to celebrate Catholic education and to grow as a team.
During the month of May there are many activities for the school: class field trips, Vocation Day (Grade 6), May Crowning, special assemblies, and extra recesses with ice cream (a gift from the auction). I know how difficult it is to keep up with everything and permission slips, too! Thanks for the extra efforts on your part as we begin to wrap up the school year.
As always, it is a great day in the kingdom of God here at St. Stanislaus School!

Archery
On April 1st the St. Stanislaus Raiders Archery Teams competed in the 2nd Annual MONASP State 3D Archery Championship Tournament. Teams from around the state gathered at Lincoln University's new Rec. Plex for the shoot.
The Elementary School Team defended their title well winning back to back State Championships. They won 1st place over all as a team.
Bridger Markway won the ES Boys State Championship Title this year placing 1st.
Maddie Verslues placed 2nd this year for ES girls.
Liz Drainer placed 3rd for ES girls.
Alyssa Gipe placed 5th for MS girls.
Our season is not over yet as we have 35 shooters preparing for the NASP National Tournament in Louisville, KY on Mother's Day weekend. Both ES and MS teams will be shooting in both the 3D and Bullseye tournaments. This tournament has over 15,000 shooters from around the country competing. The competition is pretty intense and it is an awesome experience for our shooters and families. Wish them luck as they prepare.
God Bless,
Coach Herrbold
