Mr. Foster (Science)
This week in Science we continued to learn about Earth's water. We continued to discuss how water moves and is stored around the world. Additionally, students took their 5th SCA exam of the year, this one on Ecosystems.
Next week we will continue our study of Hydrology. We will be learning about indicators of water quality. What do hydrologists look for when determining if a water system is healthy or not? We will also be discussing Estuaries and why these ecosystems are so vital to aquatic communities.

Mrs. Hulin (ELA)
Parent(s):
This week, Hulin's ELA core classes worked on the Black History Month Project. We learned about Sojourna Truth and read her speech, "Ain't I a Woman" while studying rhetorical devices. We worked with new vocabulary in the "Word of the Day" program as well. Students completed the Short Cycle Assessment as well.
This upcoming week, we will continue to study Non-fiction. We will read Mary Mccloud Bethume's speech and look for rhetorical devices. Students will continue to read independently and log their progress in their reading logs. If time allows, we will write a short speech on a topic of the student's appropriate choice. This is great practice for public speaking as well as being an active listen.
Please remind your students to turn in their BHM projects no later than Tuesday, February 23. Anyone intending to enter the Friends of Williston Black History Month Contest will need to have the permission slip filled out and signed by a parent. As always, please contact me if you have any questions.

Students also practiced their writing skills with a text-dependent R.A.C.E question pertaining to Sojourner's speech.
Students also completed the ELA SCA #5.
Next week, students will continue working on their prompt essays to the Williston's Black History Arts Project as well as continued practice identifying and analyzing rhetorical devices.
