Lowell PTA Welcomes You
Welcome to Lowell Elementary School!
As you settle in to your new home or simply prepare for a new year, we want to take a moment to introduce ourselves and let you know that Lowell Elementary has an amazing Parent Teacher Association (“PTA”). The PTA is run by parent volunteers and relies on the support of parents, teachers, and community members in order to be successful.
The Lowell PTA provides valuable and successful programs such as the Back to School Social, Battle of the Books, Chess Club, and Reflections. In the past, we have contributed funds toward the purchase of new volleyball standards for P.E., a new kiln for the art department, and classroom iPads. We also supplement and reinforce classroom concepts by funding field trips at all grade levels and organizing fun programs for students and families like Culture Fest and Discovery Day. With the help of parents, teachers, and the community, great work is being done to benefit students at Lowell.
Each year our goal is to have all parents join the PTA. The cost is $12 for an individual or $20 per family (2 adults). Your membership includes email alerts regarding important dates and events and a printed school directory. You can join and pay online at http://lowellpta.org/pta-membership-form/.
If you are interested in becoming more involved, please join us at our monthly meetings. The meetings are open to everyone and there is free childcare available. Our first meeting is Friday, September 8th at 9:30am in the Art Room. We will alternate between morning and evening meetings. For more information about the PTA you can also visit our website at www.lowellpta.org or reach out to us at president@lowellpta.org.
We look forward to a great school year and getting to know your family!
Sincerely,
Debbie Noonan and Kristen Lenhardt

Lowell Elementary Band & Orchestra Registration
Did you know that the District 200 instrumental music program is known throughout Illinois for its excellence?
During the first 2 weeks of school, 5th graders will see, hear, and try out the instruments offered for instruction. Families will have a chance to meet the directors, ask questions, rent instruments, purchase lesson books, and register students for band or orchestra. Registration nights are at Hubble and Monroe Middle Schools on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at Edison and Franklin Middle Schools on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Feel free to drop in; allow about a half hour. The busiest times are from 5:00 to 6:30, when it may take a little longer.
If parents cannot attend these sessions, please contact the band or orchestra teacher from your school. Further information may also be available on teacher classroom pages on school websites. Students younger than 5th grade may also participate in large group rehearsals if they take private lessons outside of school. There is an $80 fee for elementary band or orchestra participation; this is adjusted for students who qualify for exempt or reduced fees. Please contact the instructor for more information! The band director at Lowell is Mr. Weaver at Benjamin.Weaver@cusd200.org; the string orchestra director is Mrs. Johannesen at Jeanne.Johannesen@cusd200.org.
We hope to see you at registration night!
