Stremel Newsletter
February 25, 2024
Dear Parents,
This week we are learning about Timelines and why looking at the past is important. I am sending home information on Monday regarding a Timeline Project. The project is due on Wednesday, March 20th. Thank you for your support!
Here are some friendly reminders and upcoming events:
- Library Day Wednesday is our library day. Please help your child remember to return their library book by Wednesday.
- Please label all jackets, sweaters, umbrellas etc., in case they are lost or misplaced. It is also helpful to label your child's water bottle.
- Lunch on the Lawn- March 1. (First Grade lunch 11:15-12:00) Click on this link to register. Scroll down to Lunch on the Lawn RSVP https://www.smore.com/drtm6
- Our Spring Scholastic book fair is right around the corner. The fair runs Friday, March 1st - Friday, March 8th, in the library. Our class will be going to the Book Fair on Tuesday, March 5th 12:45-1:05. If your child would like to make a purchase, you can send cash in an envelope with their name on it or set up an ewallet for them. Parents are welcome to come anytime throughout the day, just check in with the office. Here are some tips for a successful shopping experience: set up an ewallet, view the flyer, help your child with a wishlist, and shop online!
Warmly,
Mrs. Stremel

Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is BACK from 3/1-3/8. Everyone is welcome for in-person shopping; families, students and teachers from 8:15-2:30 in the LIBRARY every day except the last day. We will close around 9am on Friday, 3/8. We also have an online option through our website. Here are some tips for a successful shopping experience: set up an ewallet, view the flyer, help your child with a wishlist, and shop online!
Parents, please take advantage of the wishlist sent home with your child so we can assist the younger kids with their shopping goals.
It’s helpful to send your child with an eWallet rather than cash, especially for the younger kids. Share your link with grandparents so they can add to the same eWallet. Any leftover funds will turn into Scholastic Store credit to be used throughout the year or at the next fair. Want to donate to your classroom library? You can purchase a book from the teacher wish bins at the fair.
Missing your retail days…Volunteer Here
The book fair will also be open to parents during Lunch on the Lawn on Friday, March 1st.
Happy Shopping!
The SEES Book Fair Team
Save the Date! Open House is April 25!
Please mark your calendars for the SEES Open House on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 5 pm. We will share more details as we get closer, but we wanted everyone to have the date as soon as possible. We hope to see all of our students and their families attend!
Read Across America Week is coming up March 4th - 8th! 📚📚📚
SEES continues to celebrate a nation of diverse readers with a week of fun spirit days and, of course, amazing books! The week is packed with stories that center around a variety of authors and topics, exposing all of our students to a wide world of literature and ensuring they see positive examples through mirrors, windows, and sliding doors in the texts we celebrate in the classroom! We have also paired Read Across America with the book fair, which runs the same week.
Terracycle: New Recycling's Program From Our Student Council
Hank Gilcrest, SEES Director of Recycling and Sanitation and awesome 5th grader, is starting a new program called Terracycle. This program is a way that we can recycle items that can’t normally be recycled and get cash for the school. The items will be sent with carbon-neutral shipping so it won’t hurt the earth. The items that we will be collecting before school and during some school hours for students include;
all baby and kid clothing, Entenmenn’s Little bite pouches, Febreze containers, squeezable pouches and lids (like GoGo Squeez, baby food pouches, and other squeezes like those), tubes, lids pouches from, Tide/Gain/Downy/Dreft , toothpaste bottles, toothbrushes, deodorant containers and caps, mouthwash bottles and caps, Swiffer refills, Taki/Chip bags
