Update from the Langdons
We're on the ground in San Diego!
What's New?
As of right now (early July) we are scouting out the land in San Diego, searching for a new job for Kris, looking for schools for the kids, and looking at houses to rent. Please pray for God's direction to be clear and our eyes and ears to be open to His guidance in these areas!
What is the plan?
As some of you may know, we have been in the process of answering God’s call on our hearts to plant a new church campus in the San Diego area. God has been faithful to prepare us for what comes next. His grace is indeed amazing!
The plan will be to move to California in August, begin the pre-launch stage of campus planting, and subsequently aim to launch the new campus. Our desire is that our ministry will continue to focus on people who do not have a relationship with Jesus, and on those held captive by darkness. Jesus has given us His light with the purpose of reaching into dark places. May God help us lead a people who will be united in loving Him and reaching others, and who will do the work of setting the captives free.
San Diego is one of the highest entry-points for human trafficking in the U.S., is the location of many prisons and strip clubs/dance bars, and has one of the highest homeless populations in the nation. Spiritually, San Diego is less than 10% Christian, and has a population of over 1.3 million people. It is our purpose to spread the light and grace of Jesus in this area.
Please keep us in your thoughts and/or prayers ...
- a fulfilling, well-paying, and flexible job for Kris
- success for Robyn's new dōTERRA business
- an affordable and accommodating house/townhouse/apartment to rent
- an excellent, positive middle school for our kids
- favor and openness among people we meet in order to grow ministry and a launch team
- the opportunity and privilege of sharing hope with those who need it
- positive rapport with our new church family
Thank you for praying for us and/or sending us positive thoughts when we come to mind!
If you would like to help:
If you have already given financially toward the new church, thank you very much for your generosity. If you are still interested in giving toward the funding of the church plant we will lead, please remember that you can give by [these instructions have changed due to a website update] going to sandiegohope.com, click Give at the top, click the red PushPay bar, and then next to Giving Type select Church Plant. From there, you will fill out your online giving information. You may choose to give either a one-time offering or a continued monthly support contribution.
To date we have $4498 toward our initial $10,000 goal. This excites and motivates us, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated so generously! Of course, we will need more in order to reach the long-term goals of the new location, and we believe God will generously provide - through the faithful giving of donors like you, and future members of our church.
