Social Media for Tweens
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.....these are just a few sites your middle school child might be using, but more and more kids are seeking sites that offer quick connections, instant feedback, and more privacy. Some apps claim to offer the ability to send a message, photo, or video, which is then destroyed seconds after it is received. That often gives kids a sense of anonymity, occasionally resulting in inappropriate sharing. It is my goal to teach your kids how to use social media responsibly, and with caution, in order to stay safe online. I assigned this formative quiz (Module 6) weeks ago, but many students still have not taken it. They may take the interactive quiz as many as three times, and send me their best score in an Edmodo post. I will be going over the skills in class this week. At the end of the quarter, students will take a summative exam on the topic.
