April 8, 2024 Solar Eclipse
While Massachusetts is not in the path of totality, we will be looking at around 95.3% totality, on April 8, which is not bad at all!
On the day of the eclipse we will gather at the Arms Library south facing sidewalk, and in the grassy area in back of the library, beginning at about 1:30 p.m. The eclipse begins at approximately 2 p.m. EST and will last until about 4:30 p.m. EST. The moon's maximum coverage of the sun will be around 3:15 - 3:30 EST.
During the afternoon there will be several solar eclipse themed art projects, as well as an informational display. And we will have snacks.
We will have solar eclipse glasses available during the day until we run out.
You WILL need to wear protective eclipse glasses. Looking at the eclipse directly can harm your eyes. See above; we have FREE solar eclipse glasses.
