Principal Message
Please complete by April 19th
Dear Pine Lane Families,
As we head into the 4th quarter, we begin the class placement process for next year. This process takes into consideration many factors and one critical piece of information is parent/guardian input.
Please complete the following survey for each of your children currently in Kindergarten - 5th Grade.
This will ensure that we know who plans to attend next year and any information you as a family believe is important for us to consider: 2024-25 Intent to Return & Parent Input. We will collect parent input (optional) through April 19th and will need all families to complete the intent return portion. Our grade-level teams will use this information to create class lists for the next school year.
If you have already completed this form you do not need to submit it again.

DRESS CODE
As warmer weather approaches please ensure students are dressed appropriately for school. Guidelines posted below can be found in our PLE Family Resource Guide,
Modesty, cleanliness, neatness, and appropriateness are the standards, which should be observed by all students in their personal dress and grooming. Students' dress should not disrupt the learning environment. Each student is expected to follow these guidelines:
Hats, caps, dark glasses or visors may be worn outside only.
No see-through, mesh clothing, halter tops, oversized tops, tube tops, strapless tops, spaghetti strap tops, low-cut blouses or shirts, or any other clothing which might reveal a large portion of the body are allowed. Bare midriffs are not to be shown.
Students are permitted to wear shorts, skorts, skirts, and dresses that are fingertip length.
Footwear is required and should ensure safety for any associated activity.
Students need to wear appropriate footwear for gym class and for cold weather.
Clothing that contains pictures, emblems, or writings that are suggestive, lewd, offensive, vulgar, or obscene, that advertise or depict tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or any other substances that are associated with gangs, or that promote racism are prohibited under District policy.
"Special Days" are designated throughout the year to build class or school spirit and students may dress accordingly.
CMAS - Starts in April
The CMAS testing is approaching quickly. For our first-timers, CMAS is a series of assessments that students from grades 3-6 (and beyond) will take each year, typically in April.
- 3rd - 6th Grade students will take the ELA and Math CMAS
- April 16th - April 18th.
Punctuality is always important, but it is especially crucial during this period. We will start testing soon after arrival, so it’s essential that your student(s) arrive at school on time. No one will be admitted into their classroom after the testing session starts, and they will have to complete the missed session during a make-up session.
To ensure your child performs at their best, we recommend they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast each morning. If possible, we ask that all phones, AirPods, Smartwatches, etc., be left at home during testing, as they will be powered down and collected during all testing sessions.
Please refer to the link for more information about CMAS and the testing schedule. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Katie Roberts: kroberts3@dcsdk12.org

SMS is Hosting the College Funding Coach
Dear Sierra Middle School Feeder Area Parents and Guardians,
We have been working hard to provide college resources for your family. It is never too early to begin planning for your student's future education. I am excited to announce that Sierra Middle School is hosting the College Funding Coach on Tuesday, April 16th from 6:00-7:30pm for a web workshop. This event is for any family wanting to learn how to pay for college (Preschool - High School).
The College Funding Coach was founded in 2002 to help families better understand the complex strategies for paying for college and making higher education more affordable. Mark DeBord, from The College Funding Coach, is on a mission to help Colorado families pay for their children’s education. This interactive workshop, Little-Known Secrets of Paying for College, teaches parents the rules of the game when it comes to paying for your child’s education.
This is a free educational web event. Please register by clicking HERE or on the flyer attached to this email.
