Veterans Day Celebrations
This year, Geist Elementary will host its 12th annual Veterans Day program on Wednesday, Nov. 11th at 9:30 in the gym. The choir and 3rd and 4th grade students are busy preparing for this special occasion with songs, writings, and speeches. Please plan to attend!
To honor our Veterans, we are asking all staff and students to wear Red, White and Blue.
Thank You Geist Elementary PTO
Thank you to the PTO for their help in providing a meal for all the staff during parent teacher conferences. The snacks and dinner were helpful during our extra hours over the two weeks. THANK YOU PTO and to all the parents who volunteered items! WE LOVE OUR GES FAMILIES! Click here to see this week's PTO Corner.
Because of your Donations...
Because of your donations to the PTO over the past year, the GES staff was able to have a training session with Dr. Tara Kingsley, from IU Kokomo. The GES PTO helps put money toward professional development which is critical for our continued growth as educators! (WE LOVE OUR PTO and GES FAMILIES!) This semester Dr. Kingsley has helped us learn about many different apps that we are using at school. We have been using Educreations, which is a whiteboard app where students can explain and present information. Another app is Seesaw which is an online portfolio where we can display student work. You may have heard about Chatterpixs which allows you to take objects and make them talk by inserting a voice! The students have been hard at work and engaged in explaining how to solve math problems, explaining and sharing about animal projects, and creating maps of the building. Be on the lookout for increased technology in the classroom!
