Library News
JK Elementary
End of January
The JK Library started 2020 off right! Our students experienced many tech and makerspace lessons this January. Our campus was also lucky to have the award winning author Susan Stevens Crummel come visit with all of our students. If January is any indication, 2020 will be a great year.
Library Lessons
Green screen Greatness!
4th & 5th grade students created green screen images and videos using the Do Ink app.
Donkey Eggs!
After reading The Donkey Egg written by our visiting author, Kinder and 1st graders created their own donkey paper bag puppets.
Draw and Chat
After reading Cook-A-Doodle-Do, 2nd & 3rd graders used the Draw and Tell app to talk about their favorite foods.
5th Grade Makerspace
5th graders created gumdrop domes. The challenge was to see how many books their domes would hold.
Spelling Bee
The library hosted JK's annual Spelling Bee. Congrats to our winners and all of our participants.
Holocaust Lesson
In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Week, students learned that people should all get along despite our differences. After reading Green Lizards vs. Red Rectangles, students had to create one structure using the same amount of different materials.
Author Visit
Susan Stevens Crummel was amazing! Both students and teachers loved her presentations. During each presentation, students helped her books come to life by acting out the parts. The library has not been able to keep her books in stock since her visit. There is nothing better than seeing students excited to read.
