Suggestions for Schools as They Implement Technology Integration
-Don't use outside experts, use job-embedded professional development.
-Take the focus off the actual technology and put the focus on the information learners are getting and how they use it.
-Teachers need a backup plan if the technology fails in some way.
-Students need to be "upside down" in technology; have students be teachers and teachers be students.
-Technology integration should change the way of teaching. Won't help to just give students technology without changing the old school ways of teaching.
-Teach students how to evaluate material found on the internet.
Why Should We Integrate Technology?
Integrating technology into schools encourages collaboration between students, provides extra and immediate support, and helps bridge the gap between what students are doing at home and at school.
Postive Outcomes of Technology Integration
Students are able to get extra videos, voice overs, explanations, and real-world applications that text books cannot provide.
Technology is rapidly update so information students are getting is current.
Using technology in schools helps teach skills relevant to today's world.
