My First SMORE!
Happy Tuesday! Yesterday, we honored the great work of Dr. Martin Luther King, whose passion, drive, and commitment was to ensure that all people are guaranteed their "unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." As school leaders, we are making this dream a reality for our children. It is my honor to work side by side with you to do what is right and best for every student!
As we interview for our new superintendent, it is a time for self reflection into what traits each of us want in our system leader. I encourage you to listen carefully to each interview and to send your comments into the school board as they have requested.
I have begun visiting in your schools and I must admit, this is my favorite part of my job thus far. I'm hopeful, I can visit with everyone within the next couple weeks; at least for a quick hello.
I would suggest that you share your Smores with your administrative staff as you see fit so they can support you to the fullest!
Thank you for welcoming me and for your patience as I learn the answers to your questions. I look forward to working with each of you as you work with your students! Have a wonderful 'short' week!

Reminders and Update
- High School Round Table - Thursday, Red Room, 8:30am. Thank you to Mr. Morris for gathering agenda items for discussion
- Great wording for student discipline concerning the sale of drugs from Chris Pape: "My team and I strive to make our high school a positive school climate. We believe that a positive school climate is only possible when faculty, staff and school leaders teach expected behaviors and consequences for misbehaviors to all students and provide support and interventions to address the causes of inappropriate behavior. The Behavioral Learning Guide takes the distribution and sale of drugs very seriously because such behavior threatens our school's positive climate. I am writing you to ensure that all of our students understand the consequences for such behavior. The BLG sets the response for the sale and distribution of drugs at a Level 4. This means that, moving forward, a students will face expulsion as a consequence for the sale or distribution of any drugs."
- The Better Business Bureau is hosting a Character Foundation Art & Essay Contest with a deadline of Friday, Feb. 10th. Awards will be given on March 4. Contact the BBB for more information if you are interested.
