Inclement Weather
Children should dress appropriately for the weather each day. Children are expected to go outside except during extremely cold days (10 degrees or colder). Children need to have fresh air and exercise as a part of their school day. Please ensure that your child is appropriately dressed. All children will go outside for fresh air and a classroom break. If they are well enough to attend school, they will join all other classmates outside.
If school is canceled due to inclement weather, families will be notified via all-call and the school's closure will be posted on the school website.

Happy December, everyone! PBL night is here and the kids are so excited to show you what they’ve been working on. Our topic is about how we can keep pests away from our school/community garden area. They worked hard, researching about a pest of their choosing and figuring out a way that they could safely keep this pest away. We will wrap up our PBL in the spring by fixing up the garden and putting our pest plans into action! You will learn more about our plans at PBL night!
We are also moving right along in all of our other subjects. PBL has taken up a big chunk of our afternoons, and once it is over, we will have more time to focus on our science and social studies lessons and activities. We started learning about plant and animal life cycles in science and about goods and services in social studies.
We will be having a fun little Christmas party on the last day before break at the last 30 minutes of the day. I will be sending out a separate letter about our Christmas party and what we’ll be doing for a class gift exchange. It is crazy to think that we are almost finished with 2018! I am excited to see what the rest of the school year brings us. Until then, we will continue to work hard and persevere in our learning!

In 4th grade math we are working on equivalent fractions both larger than the original and smaller. We are going to be adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators and comparing fractions using a number line.
In ELA we are starting a unit on justice and will be looking at the question, What is Justice? We will be focusing on view points, inferences, and sequences.

"Is Santa Smarter?" You're Invited to the 2018 Christmas Play!
Since as far back as October, Bruneau students have been hard at work learning songs and lines for this year's Christmas play. In "Is Santa Smarter?" Santa and his elves realize that they will run out of gas money and can only make it to Bruneau, Idaho to deliver presents! Thankfully, one of the elves gets Santa on the game show where you have to answer questions but can get help from local students. With the help of several 4th and 5th graders, Santa is quizzed on Christmas trivia. Large sections of dialogue that is being learned in the students' free time alternate with chorus parts in catchy songs that relate to each question. Will he succeed? Or will he need to be rescued by the Bruneau Elementary helpers? Find out on December 13th at 6:30 pm in the Bruneau gym!
