Principal's Message
Tena koutou e te whānau he mihi nui ki a koutou katoa
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of Term 3 already. It has been a very busy Term, with the last fortnight being both exciting and challenging as we come down from the high of the Lion King to the organisation and planning for the beginning of the Junior Block Refurbishment in the school holidays.
On Monday 26th September we were very fortunate to receive some new carpet for the School Hall, just in time for Rooms 7 and 8 to relocate into this space for Term 4. It has completely transformed the Hall space and is already warmer and better acoustically. The underlay, carpet, and installation were all generously donated to the school.
A big thank you to the family who made this happen!
Finally, on behalf of all the staff, we hope you have a relaxing holiday break and if you are going away over the holidays, travel safely on the roads.
Speech Competition, Semi-Final
Congratulations to the following students who took part in the Bishopdale-Burnside Rotary Speech Competition, Semi-Final Qualifiers yesterday morning at Cotswold School. We had 10 students take part in Years 4 - 8.
All students will be waiting patiently for their results to see who will make it through to the finals at Breens Intermediate in Term 4.
Congratulations to everyone for making it this far!
PhotoLife School Photos
Important Information
Photolife has changed the way you order your School Photo’s this year.
They have emailed all parents directly with the individual Shoot Key you need to view and order your photographs. If you have not received an email (check junk/spam) from Photolife, please contact Selena in the School Office to get your shoot key.
The cutoff date for free delivery is the 9th October 2021, which happens to be during the school holidays.
Your order will be sent to school after this date. If you miss the cutoff date for ordering, you can still place an order and it will be delivered to your address, but with an extra charge for postage and packaging.
The Lion King Jr. Production Success!
We hope you all enjoyed our 2022 School Production, Lion King Jr. It was wonderful to see the Burnside Aurora Centre so full of parents, grandparents, friends, and past pupils of the school.
Congratulations to all our students. They should all be very proud of themselves, it was a fantastic performance!
A big thank you to all those involved in bringing this performance to life on the night, we couldn't have done it without all your support.
Below is the video link to the show for your enjoyment!
First Holy Communion
Congratulations to those students who made their First Holy Communion at Christ the King Church last Sunday. It was such a lovely occasion and all the students looked amazing all dressed up for this special mass.
The children (and parents) have worked hard this term learning about this very special Sacrament and the special meaning behind taking the Eucharist at Mass.
They then came together to celebrate back at St Patrick’s with a lovely afternoon tea and a beautiful cake!
Congratulations to all those involved.
Junior Block Refurbishment
The Board, in conjunction with the Catholic Education Office, is pleased to announce that the long-awaited partial refurbishment of the Junior Block is set to begin in the Term 3 school holidays.
In Term 4 this will mean that there will be some disruptions to our classrooms and school environment, however, we have done our best to minimise these disruptions as much as possible and the impact this will have on our students and their learning. The classes that will be impacted the most are Rooms 2 and 3 and so we have decided the following.
- Rooms 7 and 8 will be relocating to the Hall for Term 4
- Rooms 2 and 3 will be relocating to Rooms 7 and 8 in the Senior Block for Term 4
Most of the heavier construction, including concrete cutting, will be done in the upcoming school holidays. Room 4 is only having a partial refurbishment done and it is envisioned most of this will be complete in the upcoming school holidays so they can still utilise their classroom space in Term 4. Room 1 will be largely unaffected by any construction taking place.
A big thank you to those parents and caregivers who were able to come and help with our ‘moving days’ this week. We successfully relocated Rooms 7 and 8 to the Hall on Wednesday and Rooms 2 and 3 to the Senior Block yesterday.
Faith in Action
Ellie Gane and Una Austin have shown remarkable compassion recently when they decided to have a combined birthday party and instead of their guests bringing presents they asked for donations of money to go towards groceries for St Vincent de Paul.
At Values Assembly they presented their $150 worth of food donations to Richard from the St Vincent de Paul who was very impressed with their thoughtfulness and compassion.
Well done to them both for showing us the true meaning of living the Gospel Values and showing Faith in Action!

PFA - End of Term Breakfast
A big thank you to the PFA who surprised the staff with a beautiful breakfast shout at the Strange Bandit on Wednesday morning. It was such a lovely treat for all the staff and a great way to celebrate a busy term together!
We are also very lucky that at the last PFA Meeting the PFA donated $10,000 towards our Community Funded Teacher and significant contributions towards ICT, Junior Gymnastics, and the St Patrick's School Ambassador Programme.
On behalf of all the staff, thank you to all of our school community for your fundraising efforts and to our amazing PFA for all that you do!

Organised by St Patrick's School, the Combined School Disco provides an opportunity for students from St Patrick's School, Christ the King School, and St Joseph's School to meet new people, build on previous connections and have fun together in a safe environment.
This year's Disco will be hosted at St Joseph's School Hall on Friday 4th November from 7:30pm - 9:30pm. Tickets are $10. More information and ticket sales will be available online from Monday 17th October - Monday 31st October.

St Patrick’s School Ambassador Programme
The St Patrick’s School Ambassador Programme seeks to develop the leadership qualities of; Support, Inspiration, Honesty, Commitment, Passion, Reflection, Creativity, and Problem-Solving.
The Ambassador Programme provides a Student Council Framework over a two-year period which offers students opportunities to take responsibility and to work collaboratively with the whole School Community for the benefit of the School and its students. Students are encouraged, affirmed, given responsibility, and provided with opportunities to experience success in a managed environment.
Each year our Year 7 and 8 students apply for seven ambassador roles that they would like to lead throughout the year.
- Know, Show, Pray
- Leadership Outside the Classroom
- Sport and Recreation
- Tech and Me
- Culture Across School
- Paddy's Green Team
- Arts In Action
Throughout the year this involves the students also completing a St Patrick’s School Ambassador Journal, participating in a range of Outdoor Activities, taking part in Community Service Work as well as taking up a Passion Project for the year.
These are then measured to see if they have achieved the recognition of Participation, Merit, or Excellence based on their overall attitude and participation across the three components as well as the effort they have put into their journal entries throughout the year.
Passion Project Showcase - Harry George
As part of his Passion Project for 2022, Harry has built a dog kennel for the SPCA in memory of his dog Ralph. He started building the dog kennel in Term 2 with his dad and said it had been a lot of fun to construct. They had even managed to get many of the items needed to construct the dog kennel donated, including the paint and carpet.
Harry said he was really proud of his achievement and that it is awesome to do nice stuff for other people and to be able to finish it and donate it to the SPCA. When the SPCA came to collect the dog kennel they said it was the fanciest dog kennel they had ever seen!
What an awesome accomplishment, and for a great cause!
We hope to share a few more of our student's Passion Projects with you in Term 4.
