Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about Youth Programming:
What is Youth Programming?
Youth Programming at Temple Israel of Natick provides informal educational experiences for our students. This year, our programming will include students in grades K-12. Programming varies and can include social, tikun olam, social action, religious programming and much more!
How many programs are available for my child?
Programming amounts vary per age group. A calendar of dates will be available at the beginning of the school year. To create meaningful experiences for all participants, students may only attend events for their grade level.
How will information about events be publicized?
Information about events will be emailed to all the email addresses you provide on the Registration Form which is why it is important for you to make sure to register. Other forms of publicity may include flyers given out at Religious School, the Hakol, Constant Contact or Temple website and social media.
Who plans and staffs Youth events?
Youth events are planned by the Youth Programming Coordinator, parent volunteers or teen leaders. The events are staffed by the Youth Programming Coordinator, paid Youth Staff and/or parent volunteers. A safe student to staff ratio is always employed.
How much does it cost to attend a Youth event?
The cost of each Youth event is unique. We make every effort to make the events as affordable for families as possible. Often there are discounts for families with more than one child attending. If the cost for any event would prohibit participation, please contact the Youth Programming Coordinator.
Who should fill out the registration form for Youth Programming?
Anyone with a student in grades K-12 in our community would benefit from registering for Youth Programming. The information will be used to compile grade level contact lists about Youth Programs and opportunities in our Community. Filling out the registration form is the best way to ensure you get all the information and that we have all the information we need about your family if your child chooses to attend an event.
Do I need to pay the registration fee?
While paying the registration fee for Youth programming is not mandatory, we strongly encourage those that participate in our programming to do so. The funds collected help to subsidize the cost of events, provide experiences at no cost to the participants and enhance the resources we have available to the students in our community. As per Regional policy, if your child plans to participate in any Regional events, they must be a paid and registered member.
What is a Regional event?
A regional event is a program which is planned and organized by a regional Director of United Synagogue Youth. These events are for students in Eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and parts of Connecticut. Regional events are often called USY(Grades 6-12) or Kadima(Grades 3-5) events at Temple Israel of Natick. These events are wonderful opportunities to connect with camp friends or meet new people from other congregations. Per the Regional policy, any 3rd-12th grader that attends a Regional event MUST be a paid and registered member of Youth Programming at Temple Israel of Natick.
Can I have the fee for Youth Programming Membership or the cost of events added to my Temple Israel dues billing?
Unfortunately, funds for Youth Programming are separate from Temple Israel funds. The main office cannot bill Youth Events or the Membership Fee to your Temple bill. You can pay by cash, checks made out to Temple Israel USY or you can make a payment through PayPal at PayPal.me/NatickUSY. We apologize for this inconvenience.
