EMK February Newsletter
Building The Foundation One Brick At A Time
Dear EMK Families,
February was full of excitement as students had many special events around the building. These events were as followed: Valentine's Day, 100th Day, and Kindness Week. During Kindness Week, students were able to show Kindness in many different ways: writing thank you notes to staff, buddy class reading, and kindness heart activities. We enjoyed spreading Kindness around the building to the whole community
Thanks,
Mr. Tozzi

2nd Grade ELA February Focus
Second grade students have been working to identify the characters in the stories that have been read together as a class and independently. This month we are focusing a little closer on the character to see if we can link character traits to the character and proof from the text to support their thinking. For example, in the story Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts, the main character Jeremy could be described as generous, kind, and thoughtful. Proof from the text would be that he gave Antonio the pair of popular shoes that he had bought for himself because he saw that his friend needed shoes.

Some second graders began to write these informative pieces on their iPads to create a presentation or book.

Outdoor Recess Reminder
Cooler weather will continue through he winter months, however, we will still be having recess outdoors based upon weather. Recess is a crucial part of the day, so by all means we will continue to provide this outdoor experience daily. Please be reminded to have your child properly dress for cooler weather.
