The First Week of School Edition
A Message from Mrs. Haymark
The first day is fast approaching! Our teachers have been hard at work preparing to greet our Texans virtually on Wednesday, August 12th.
Last week all of our teachers reached out to their homebase students to introduce themselves, share important information about the first few days of virtual school, and invite them to our "Meet the Teacher" event. For those of you who were able to join us, thank you for taking time out of your day to get to know your child's teacher. The event was a huge success! If you haven't received a call from us, please let us know. We want to make sure your child knows how to log on and be marked present starting on Day One!
Our fantastic technology duo, Ashley Colvin (librarian) and Aimee Caraway (technology coach), created a Vogel Roadmap to Reopening modeled off of the CISD's Roadmap to Reopening. The site houses Vogel specific information about procedures we will implement this coming year to keep our staff and students safe. We will continue to update the Vogel site as we are made aware of additional information.
The first day of school is my absolute favorite day all school year! We are excited and ready!!! Send us your first day of school pictures to contactvogel@conroeisd.net. We will create a slideshow and post the pictures on our website as well as our Facebook page. Please join in the fun!!!
Thank you for all of your ongoing support and patience as we navigate through the uncertainty. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out via phone (832-663-4300) or email (contactvogel@conroeisd.net).
Sincerely,
Christa Haymark, Principal
Virtual Attendance Requirements
First Day Attendance: There are three ways for your child to be marked present: participate in a live Zoom/Canvas meeting, access and submit assignments in Canvas, or directly communicate with the teacher (email, phone call, class dojo message). It is imperative that your child participates in Canvas (via live platform or assignments) or you make contact on Wednesday. Without contact on the first day of school, the school is required to unenroll your child. This is true every year, but it's normally easy to account for attendance because the children are in our building. I appreciate your help in this matter!
Attendance After the First Day: Will be taken based on the same three factors above (participation in a live Zoom/Canvas meetings, accessing and submitting assignments, or direct contact with the teacher). Teachers will be checking attendance everyday. If your child does not log on and participate or communicate with their teacher, he/she will be marked absent for the day. It is mandatory that CISD follow the attendance guidelines as set forth by the State of Texas.
