Definition- Winds is the movement of air caused by differences in air pressure
What causes winds- Differences in air pressure are caused by the uneven heating of Earth
Trade Winds
These winds lie in between 0* and 30* latitude and are very strong. Sailors used these winds to help them move their cargo to other countries to trade goods.
Jet Streams
Is a band of very strong winds in the upper troposphere. Airplanes use these to travel faster while saving fuel.
Prevailing Easterlies
These winds blow from the north and south poles
Local Winds
Definition- Generally move short distances and can blow in any direction
How they are created -uneven heating of the earth's surface
How sea breezes blow- A wind that blows from the ocean to the land
How Land Breezes blow- A wind that blows from the land towards a body of water
Horse Latitude
These winds lie between 30* north and south latitude, and are very weak
Global Winds
Definition- Global Winds are winds that travel over a large area like the globe!
